Navi/Dash Clock Sync MEGATHREAD (UPDATE: all should be fixed now)

Martin in FL?
Also, let's assume I can aquire a new navi dvd drive unit and screen for an 07/08 TL, what other tools would I need to open up the dash and do this myself? And directions? Your helpful guidance would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

Martin's # is 201-889-7012. He sells the adaptor to be able to plug an '07/8 screen into an '04/5/6 for $55 with shipping.
BTW, WTF is a click issue?

A) Since you purchased both the DVD-ROM and screen: what did you have to retrofit with the cable / adaptor?
B) How did you add the backup camera? Did you also purchase an OEM license plate assembly from another 08TL or did you buy a "generic" camera kit and add it with the cable?
Thanks for the clarification : )

B) Already had the backup camera installed using Dom's NavToGo unit years ago, so I didn't bother utilizing the DVD drive connection for that. Paul made a custom mount for my original license plate assembly.

May 5 2021, still no fix. like others, this only happened when I disconnected the battery. I've reset everything, nothing works. the clock is un-settable from the nav menu. the clock is now totally un-usable in these cars. Sweet.

Haven't been on for a while, but thought I'd reply as our '04 same problem. What a PIA, but thought I'd give Acura then Alpine a call and they state that the old equipment in our antique '04 can't communicate with the new satellites. Logical or not, who knows, the problem as that Alpine and Acura are working on the problem, but if they find that the time/cost exceeds what they believe to be prudent, it will never be corrected.
Although I have both units locally that can be had for an '08 for only $150, with only 100,000 miles on the car, I'm not ripping it apart to do the conversion, so I'll just set the clock at 1:00 and make the wife happy. As far as the nav in the car, even when the latest disc was installed years ago, it couldn't compete with a true GPS units or cell phone directions, but it looks great.

on the problem any longer, no skin off their back as at some point they'll need to step up to the plate.
So, do you have any definitive data that shows that they aren't working on the problem other that stating it a million times?

I bit the bullet and got the 07 drive and adapter. Acura didn't do much for us when the dash cracked so I don't expect that much from them now either. We are "Legacy" customers. Honda/Acura have no obligation to us 7-years after the car is last produced. So 2008 + 7 means about 2015 is when acura stopped caring about the 3G TL.

How long did it take to come up with solution for air bag solution? Years and still going.
How long did it take KIA/Hyundai to come up with the solution for their crappy 2.4/2.0T engine that's been out for10 years..........Nothing yet, just engine replacements.
How about the seat belts in the RX7 Turbo I purchased new, 30 years later, no fix, but they will replace the assembly when they cease to function properly.
Need I go on, don't think so.
No big deal as the nav leaves a lot to be desired, but next time I'm home in the afternoon, will just reattach the battery cable to correct the time and keep the wife happy.

The two chances of getting this fixed are slim and none.
Honda probably wont ever come up with a fix to their obvious screw-up.
Our next best hope is that when daylight savings time reverts to normal time on Sunday, November 7 at 2:00 A.M, our clocks will go back to normal.

In 12 years of ownership never had any issues with mine, last week picked up my car from the body-shop and everything was reset, I had to reset the Navi - Radio but I could not set the clock for some reason, after reading this entire thread I see I've become a victim of this dreaded issue,
Subn for a cure.

05 TL same boat
I've been disconnecting the battery and reconnecting at 1am. (For whatever reason, wintertime KILLS my brand new batteries and haven't yet figured out why) I've gotten used to the issue, but would love a permanent resolution.

What are the chances of upgrading to this and having the same issue?

NONE WHATSOEVER!
This is a condition that only affects '04/5/6 TL's with navigation. I did this upgrade several months ago after getting tired of waiting for Acura to come up with a solution and everything's been A-OK ever since, so just DO IT! You get available updates to 2021 instead of 2014 to boot!

Good afternoon to all. I would like to direct a question to those who already performed the '07/'08 Navigation Upgrade on their '04-'06 Acura TL. Thanks to those who were kind enough to leave copies of the service manuals for the '04-'08 TL's, I was able to download all of them and started looking through them. I even printed the circuit diagrams for all the components ( Display, Audio, Navigation, and HFL ) on both TL models for comparison. There were a few changes done and some additional features. I even got the crazy idea to rip everything apart and rewire the entire car. My friends told me that I have a screw loose............and to just buy another car
A special thanks to Zepplin77 for sharing some of his knowledge with the process of the upgrade.
Anyway, like I mentioned earlier, in a previous post, that I already upgraded my Navigation and everything is working good. But I have always been a perfectionist ( comes with the work I do ) and there are a few minor things that are not working correctly like before.
While examining the Display Panel Control Unit section, in the 2007-2008 service manual, i noticed a discrepancy in the connector wiring / description. The '04-'06 Display Panel incorporates, besides the climate control connectors, two green color connectors. one is a 14-pin labeled Connector A(14P) and the other is a 22-pin labeled Connector E(22P). Those were pretty straight forward. The '07-'08 Display Panel is a little different. It has two 22-Pin connectors. One is green color and is also labeled Connector A(22P) and the other is a blue connector and is labeled Connector E(22P). When I bought the Display Panel and Navigation ROM Drive, the Display Panel came with all it's connectors still attached. The two 22-Pin connectors can ONLY fit in their respected port.....green will fit only on green and same with blue connector. Like I said earlier, while examining the wiring description on the 2007-2008 manual, I noticed that wire lay out on green connector A(22P) did NOT match the one I had in my hand. The same went for the blue connector. In the manual, connector A(22P) uses terminals 5,6,7,8.9.10,15,16,17,18,19 & 22. While connector E(22P) uses terminals 1,2,3,4,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,18,19,20,21 & 22. But physically looking the connectors in my hand, the wiring was reversed. My blue connector looked exactly like connector A(22P), in the manual and my green connector looked like connector E(22P).
I know this is not a big deal and simply a waste of time but can someone out there who does have the manual, kindly take a look and let me know if I am crazy or not. I did get an adapter from Martin, in Florida, to retrofit my Display Panel to make it work but, as I mentioned earlier, there are a few minor things that are not working correctly. For example, the FM station don't display properly along with the stereo symbol, and my rear speakers are not as loud as the front. The passenger side A/C modes don't appear anymore.
I never had these nuisance problems before the swap. But everything works!
Okay, I'll stop talking now

Have the same basic TL as you DMZ, 2004 MT w/Navi. Bought it back when I worked for Honda via their employee purchase program was only my daily driver for about 5 years so still in very good shape minus the dash cracks that finally developed this winter. Anyway, sourced the 07-08 Navi screen and DVD drive from eBay, ordered the adapters from Martin in FL. Only part I'm not doing yet is the backup camera, possibly a future addition. In your experience was the backup cam any more complicated of a job than the Navi screen and drive replacement?
#273
Get this straight, there is NO FIX forthcoming! We'll all be dead and buried before that ever happens, NO JOKE! So you can either live with it for the duration of your ownership of this vehicle, or do the upgrade, Sorry, but there's no other alternative.

I called them on my TL and basically they are useless. I purchased a new disc and nothing. Just disconnected the battery and waited till 1PM. I have 59k miles on my car. Almost brand new. Probably sell it in about 6 months. I just had the engine and transmission seals along with a bunch of stuff done. That’s my only issue now. I’ve probably have the lowest mileage TL on the forum!
Polished my front headlights last week.

My display clock is now about 1 hour and 5 minutes slow; now that daylight savings time is in effect. The clock was right on, before the Saturday time change.
I went into the diagnostics (holding menu+map+cancel for 5 seconds) and the H/U TIME SEND is stuck at "0:00"; any adjustments don't work here either ( the SET (bright yellow) just sits there when pressed and doesn't appear to send anything).
DST is set to ON
The diagnostic two NAV times some how both read to "2001.08.21 23:05:51" (or something near that, but 2001 is the year!) and although i could try reseting them by changing the hour + or - ; This would take an eternity do, so I refrained from setting them more than a couple of hours (and then settng them back).
Anyone figure out this bizarre time puzzle yet?
