Navi conversion kit...NEED ADVICE

Hello everbody!

im interested in getting the conversion kit to turn my stock navi screen into a viewable dvd monitor. I've gotten a few price quotes, and ive done a little bit of product research. it seems that i will be spending $1000-$1300(parts and labor).

If anyone has done this or knows anything about it, i would love some suggestions about installation and products. thanks!

What are you planning to do? Is that 1000-1300 for just the navi screen into dvd or are you getting headrest screens?

Contact Vsokolov, a vendor on this site. He is located in NY perhaps you can get in touch with him. He has done similar installations before.

im pretty sure this conversion process involves two major components, the actual converter and a stand alone dvd player. plus small wires, any cosmetics to hide wires and of course the labor. i was quoted $1200. no headrests screens or anything. is that ridiculously expensive? ill try to get in touch with Vsokolov, but any information you have i would appreciate also.

thanks alot.

$1200???? that's crazy! the unit itself from vsokolov is only $250. You can find a dvd player on ebay for $150 or less! as far as install goes, I hear it is pretty simple and should be done in a couple hours!! So, say @ $60/hour x 2 hours... that's $120. Total= UNDER $600!!!

this should help. good luck and don't get ripped off!!

Sounds pretty expensive.. but it really all depends on the labor. You have probably seen my thread, I break down the prices in there. The unit (s-video one) alone cost $575 from avelectronics and the dvd i overpaid for was about $200 or so. The wires shouldnt cost more than $50 (all depends on what you buy). so thats about $825 for parts if you buy the high end s-video and plug and play system from avelectronics. If you get vsolkovs you will pay higher in labor because it's harder to install. So either you install it yourself and save a ton on labor or you can go with the cheaper system and pay slightly more in labor.
