you want to install a factory nav in a non navi car?
have you looked in the Garage (diy) section for info?
Its a lot more than a dash unit~~

for the price of the swap- I would get a good TomTom and be done with it
Acura nav requires a new disc every few years as cities are updated- thats 150-200 bucks for the disc!
I can get a new portable for that price!!!!

And as 01tl4tl said, most TomTom's/Garmin's are updated for free online and by installing the nav in your car, you can't unplug it and take it with you. Well, unless you have a new 4 runner

Installing a factory Navi is quite an undertaking. I'm not saying you can't do it, but there is a lot to do. I have a 7" garmin and love it. It's almost the same screen size as the OEM Navi. I paid <$300 for it.

The navi is WORTH IT!! It opens up a whole new set of mods to your car.. If you are into car entertainment.. the navi is the coolest thing to get. I also think it will make it easier to sell my car..

I swear this question comes up once a week..

I HAVE CREATED A DIY for this!! -> https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=diy

Post any other questions you have in that thread so people who are interested in the swap can also have their questions answered.

I see...

i was thinking on installing a custome navi in my tl but i would lose the steering wheel controls, the hand free, and other stuff so i decided to not do it...
this process is cheaper than getting the factory navi however it has its disadvantages...

Why not get a carpc.

Look under Car PC install. there is a TL in the gallery. I believe the owner of the car is a member on the site.

If the car were a year or two old I might understand undertaking a project of that sort, but not with a car that's six years old unless you intend to drive it for a very long time (I'm the sort of person who keeps cars forever, but many people aren't). You'll never come close to recovering the cost of the project when you sell or trade in the car. The other thing is that resale/trade-in value takes a major hit once the odometer hits 100,000 miles. There really isn't any rational reason for that to be the case these days, but a lot of people still have a psychological aversion to a car with over 100,000 miles even though it's routine for Hondas and Acuras to run well beyond that number.
