I successfuly upgraded using a backup from version 4.55 to version 4.62 on my 07 TL. Pioneer 112D Burner and HP Media (I wouldn't recommend HP because the first one failed to work and the second one had some sector writing problems) DVD+R DL 8.5 GB. I used the original disc and made a backup with DVD Decrypter. It then outputed an ISO file as well as a MSD file. Then Used DVD Decrypter to Open the the MSD file and burned. I switch the car on and replaced the disc. It said "Downloading, do not switch the engine off", or something like that as soon as I put it in. It's been working for a whole day.

It doesn't matter if the original disc is PTP and you make a OTP backup. The nav unit doesn't care.

BTW, I don't think it's worth the $200 price since a lot of the POIs are miscatergorized still.

I should also add that the Pioneer DVR-112D automatically book typed the DVD+R DL disc to DVD-ROM.

Hey thisguymo....I've got an '07 Type S and cannot buy one yet. How did you get your disc? I was told by Alpine that you couldn't purchase them yet. And would you be willing to burn me a copy and mail it to me? I'd be happy to pay you for your time and materials.

i wouldnt be too fired up to get an update disc...last time i purchased an update disc for my wifes car, i coulnt tell a difference at all from the old disc...it was a waist of cash if you ask me....the other thing to do, is to wait for a short while and buy one on ebay, then turn around and sell your old one on ebay...it can soften the cost of the new one...i think i paid 150 for the last one i bought for my wife, and sold the old one for 100...not too bad...but i still say a new disc just one udate cycle is useless...
