National Ban on Radar detectors

I read somewhere this week in the news (sorry I can't find the article now), but there is a bill going through congress now that would ban radar detectors in the United States.

Total bunch of BS if you ask me, and I hope it never sees the light of day.

Here is the article that I read this week

Article

When I read the article again, it's not clear if this is national or Florida. With the above link that I posted, maybe it's referring to "Florida" senate. It just says Senate, so I assumed federal level, but it seems the article is not clearly written. The URL says "national".... who knows????

I edited my post, but read it again and look at URL. Like I said I think this article poorly written and not 100% clear. They say senator, not state senator? I don't know.

what other kind of senators are there? each state has a senator in congress. but they make laws for their state, not the entire country, but the whole congress has to agree on that law, but it doesn't mean that law is applied to all states.

The National banned would be on Radar Jammers... http://www.findarticles.com/p/articl...4/ai_n11849306

Florida does have a bill to banned radar detectors. https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/florida-ban-radar-detectors-least-try-359979/

Uh, just so you know, each state has it's own legislative body, including state senators.

That is how State laws are created.

It almost does not even matter in my area.

I got a ticket a couple weeks ago. Never even heard my Escort go off. I suspected he was using laser which I disabled about a year ago. I was getting a ton of false positives for laser. Figured laser detection is basically useless. I turned laser back on though to see. I did notice that in some towns there are signs that say speed limits enforced with radar and laser.

Last night on the same stretch of road but, in a different area (about 4 miles south might be diff police department) I got a laser hit and saw the cop standing on the side of the road shooting it at my car. Luckily I was only going like 5 over and he didn't bother to come after me.

This is in Westchester, NY.

thats why they have detectors that are installed into the grill with an easily hidden display, then cops can see/find them

Agreed, and that's the route I would go, but then you get into the reverse cat-mouse game of radar detector detectors.
