the yellow plastic tip isolates the inner + from the outer -...
If you have the adapter, and look at it, you'll understand the directions I'm trying to provide.

I think someone said they have the MG-35 and is using it in their car. I'm wondering how you power the unit as the plug is a bit different than the MG-25?
This is not really a good shot, but the PWR plug has 4 pins(it seems to be the same on all my other 3.5" hard drive enclosures.

Riiight.. sorry about that.
The MG-35 uses a power adapter similar to laptops. I guess you will have to look for a compatible car adapter. The easy route is just to use a power inverter and plug the power adapter into that.

I've made some progress on getting ahold of a "Car Kit" for the MG-35...Still looking for one specifically for the MG-35, but it looks like several other media devices use the same 4-pin power plug and also the same infrared extender cable...

The Mediagate MG-25 requires 5V at 2 A, which means 10 W (Power = Voltage x Current). Lembowski's 60 W inverter is more than enough to power it.

quick question for you guys. Does the MG software allow for playlists that can be saved? I have a grip of mvs and don't want to sort by genre folder...I like ipod video playlist but hate to convert all my files to m4p format.

The website specs are definitely weird... How could it be both 5V and/or 12V - both mentioned as DC voltage??

I just took a look at the back of my MG-35 and power adapter and it does indeed use DC 5V and DC 12 V.
I'm taking a guess here, but when the MG-35 is connected to the computer via USB, it only requires 5V/1.5A, but when it operating as a media player, it requires 12V/1.5A.

Well, I got the car adapter for the HD-3510, and it works beautifully with the MG-35. Also, there was a huge difference in using a power inverter and the 110V power supply, versus the car adapter.
With the inverter, as I expected, there were wavy, rolling lines on the video output. With the car adapter, there are none of these wavy lines.
Inverters are notoriously known for creating "noise" in both audio and video devices, and this has been proven to me once again. The video interference with the use of an inverter is unacceptable (to me at least).

Keep in mind that in automobile applications, the 12V power leads usually deliver closer to 13.8V, so you need to be careful tapping directly into your car power leads to make some sort of home-made adapter with a 4-pin plug if you find just the plug somewhere on the net.
Also, during startup and cranking, the voltages can swing wildly if there is no voltage regulation device present between the car power and your electronics device. Most internal car electronics (like your car radio) have built-in power regulation to deal with the wide range of voltages.

interesting. Well I finally put everything together(kind of a pain) and it works as expected. I just need to get a different switch and find a place to mount it. I may consider that HD-3510 car adapter so I can reduce some of the cable clutter under the passengers seat , mcowher how long is the cord?

I am a new owner of a 2006 TL. I'm anxious to get some mp3 in the thing, and might as well install the TVandNav module while i'm at it. I'm a novice with the TL, but I'm confident I can pull it off. Would you happen to know where I can get good information on how to take apart the TL correctly. I would be interested in something that shows how to take apart the trunk area to install teh Dom and the center console to extract the factory deck to inspect behind it. ^_^ Thanks.

FYI guys....I'm working on implementing a simple circuit that will turn the media player ON after it begins receiving power from it's power supply. That way, I don't have to worry about turning it on, and it'll be ready to go.
I'll be modeling it after one of the following two solutions, but I don't know which one yet:
Auto-On Switch Method 1

interesting, but I don't turn on my media player everytime I drive, e.g. driving to work(6 miles) or running errands around town. Still seems like a good idea.

I think I would be more interested in an auto OFF for the media player. Once the player detects no power, it will safely turn off. That might be difficult though.

I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but can the video from an ipod be displayed on the nav screen with the use of dom's unit? With the current 80gb ipod going for $349, I might just bite and buy an ipod, something I promised I would never do.
