in orange county maybe 20 mins away. installation depends, will you need a custom harness? the harness costs major $$$, and you'll need three. unless you get the connectors. i can save you $$$
sweet. and well im looking into the harness thing if i cant find it you can make it right? I will gather all the parts and get back to you. But this is somehting i DEFINITELY would like to do. And from what i can see, you do great work.

i found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Acura...spagenameZWDVW it's bank! but if you cant get the connectors it might be worth it. you deff will need connectors. but if you get them i can do it for way less
i saw. i contacted the guy, he had the whole kit available for about 1600 plus 25 for shipping. it included the harnesses. I emailed him to see if he can have another kit ready. If so, this will make getting parts so much easier for both you and myself. I will def keep you posted.
So I am contemplating maybe taking on this project in a few months. I am an electronics technician so this should come pretty natural to me, but a question of concern is. Do I have to use a factory navi radio with the navi display or can I use my non-navi radio? Also do you have pdf files with the illustrated parts breakdown on the car and schematics? I will probably by the electronics manual for the car but meanwhile I am looking for something to read up on.

jptl04 - Can you please elaborate on the harness. if possible with some pictures.
So all of us who are planning this project can be careful when buying the parts.
Thanks

From what I understood from his explanation and my expertise as an electronics technician by trade what he did when he built his own harness was this. He had all the connectors whether it be from the display unit (nav screen) the dvd unit (navigation w/dvd disc) and the radio, he looked at the schematics and extended the leads from one unit to another, particulary the toughest part being from the nav screen to the rear of the car where the navigation dvd unit is mounted. Does this make any sense. He also clearly points out that obviouslly building your own harness like this given you have all the connectors will save you a ton of money being as how if you bought the complete harness for the floor or the instruments you are looking at a couple hundred bucks for each harness. I just thought I would contribut that bit of information hoping it makes some sense. I have yet to do this install but understand it clearly and as an electronics technician I don't even see this being extremely difficult you are just matching numbers from one point to another given the schematic, hardest part will be taking apart the interior and laying the harness in neatly tucked away, but that's just my personal opinon.

TL310 was able to gather up up all the parts pretty quick. but all the connectors were cut so i had to custom make a new wire harness. im getting to know this car pretty well now, and im also getting pretty good at this navi stuff. i still have to install a rear back-up camera and doms tv to nav converter i'll do it tomorrow. this is what i did.
oh yea BTW, HI! DMZ
and no it would not be cheaper to trade in for another car w/ navi.

this is what i started with

these are the connectors taken from the display screen and dvd rom drive. make sure you label everything!

after a couple of hours of wire stripping and soldering if finished the custom wire harness. i bought some 4 and 2 conductor shielded wire fron an electronic shop. again label everything. you'll need the ETM manual and service manual to know were everything goes.

i removed the rear seat to install the gps antenna

i removed the center console clock, radio and old display

i used this custom made tool to pull off the center air vents that has the clock display on it.

began to run the wire harness down the passenger side and through the trunk

after making all the connections i tested to see how i did.

bingo!!! acura navigation!
i'll post pics of the the reverse camera and doms unit when i get that in. what do you think.

Step by step.
OEM Connectors
I just stumbled on this thread....
If you are looking for connectors, I am selling them for $10 w/ socket terminals. Mind you, I have an '03 Accord, but Honda & Acura use the same connectors. Check my site: geekeng.com - and drop me an email with pics or details on what you need, I'll try to hook you up.
If you're wondering... my connectors are brand new, OEM style, non-modified and exactly what Honda/Acura use for the wire harnesses that you'll end up paying hundreds for...

If you have the harness, The shop should be able to hook it up. Anywhere between $350-$475 no more than $500.

ok so i bought the navigation unit (Screen) off an A-zine member and then i went to order the navigation wiring harness so that i could move the climate control display up top where my clock used to be. oh and FYI i did buy the display for the climate control that now will go onto the clock area. i cut off all the wires that i needed to connect the plugs into the back of the navi unit, right now all i want to do is relocate the climate control display and i don't need the navigation function because i have installed a tabled into that area.
i can not find any instructions on how to wire these into the non navi harness to be able to display the climate control up top.
i tried moving the original up by soldering all the 27 small ass points up top and i gave up cuz i kept messing up. that's when i decided to buy the navi unit so i could use the climate display where the clock used to be.
can someone tell me how to wire the plugs into a non navi harness just so i can see the climate control display please??!!
