i can do it! but you'll have to gather up all the parts needed for the navi conversion. given all the parts and harnesses i can do it in a day no problem. this is what you'll need

Parts List I used for my conversion with automatic transmission.

2ea 90132-SV4-003 SCREW, ET (5X16)
3ea 91540-S0A-003 CLIP (96.9MM)
4ea 91601-SH3-013 GROMMET, SCREW (5MM)
4ea 93893-05008-07 SCREW-WASHER (5X8)
4ea 93901-25280 SCREW, TAP (5X12)
1ea 39710-SEP-A41 DISPLAY ASSY., INFORMATION CENTER
1ea 35890-SEP-A11 SWITCH ASSY., NAVIGATION GUIDE& HAND FREE TELEPHONE
1ea 39051-SEP-A41ZA MODULE ASSY., DISPLAY
1ea 39540-SEP-A41 DVD UNIT, NAVIGATOR
1ea 39541-SEP-A40 BRACKET, NAVIGATOR ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT
1ea 39835-SEP-A41 ANTENNA ASSY., GPS

In addition to this there were 3 wiring harnesses,
32117-SEP-A20 instrument
32140-SEP-A11 floor
32155-SEP-A11 roof

^^^
these harnesses are not needed if you have the connectors it will save you a ton of$$$ i'll just make you a custom harness. check ebay i've seen the major parts for sale with the connectors cut off.

i bought some of the little parts parts new, and the more expensive parts ( navi screen and dvd rom drive) off ebay. you could also get some parts from local wrecking yards as well, you just have to look around, it took me about two months to gather up all the parts.

i got some of the parts new from, here's the link http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/catdisplay.jsp

Other than the total factory look of the conversion, is there any other driving factor for going this route?

I first thought about it but the cost of the oem display and navi unit is pretty expensive.

And as jptl04 pointed out, if the cable ends are not included, the cost of the harnesses is VERY expensive.

I'm planning a carputer instead. It gives me a lot of flexibility, I think just as much function and pretty much unlimited amount of playing around even after it's installed and running.

Thanks Ahmad! See if you can crack some type of deal if we get a few people to do the conversion. I'll bring the parts definitely but just need to make sure everything can happen smoothly. I'll PM you or you can PM to discuss this.

Hey JPTLO4 You know what would be a good idea it since you can custom make the harness can you produce all the necessary harnesses and sell them. I seen the ridiculous price acura is charging and it would help everyone one else willing to do the same conversion
what do you think
thx

Man, I need to come back to the "Audio, Bluetooth, Electronics & Navigation" section more often. I've kind of abandoned it lately in favor of the "Photograph Gallery" section.

Anyway, this conversion looks super-clean. Nice work all around! Mine came with Nav (no way in hell I'd buy a $35,000 car without a $2,000 option, but that's just me), and I'm very glad that I got it. The only crapper is that it's kind of un-customizable as far as adding stuff to it. All the peripheral add-ons -- like DVD player, backup cam, iPod, etc. -- are pretty involved and require modifications that I'm not willing to do (yet). If it were up to me, I'd have some sort of carputer in my TL, like many others have done. I just wish it came from the factory that way.

I guess that was a pointless tangent!

Great conversion! ...even though the original post is from July!

Yes! And that someone is youuuu!!!

Just drive over to your dealer and negotiate trading in your TL for one that already has Navi.

Works wonders! ......no tearing your entire dash apart, no futzing with the car's main wiring harness, and best of all, you'll get your Navi with the fewest headaches to boot.

I am very impressed with this setup....Great job. I know people that want to convert it to nav should do this and not do a carpc... It's oem and for the extra money, it will get the cash back when you go to sell it..A+ on the install. Yes the car is apart but all of these parts are designed to come apart and go back together like nothing ever happened. Anyone that knows what they are doing can do it without damaging anything. I always warn an owner before we put a stereo, alarm, remote start, don't get scared when the car is apart. It will all be together in the end. I have the nav and I wouldn't have bought the car without it. I once priced just the screen for it and the local dealer quoted me 3100. Great job and thanks for showing the non-nav owners that with a brain and some balls (cash too) it can be done!!!!

Question guy! I found this junk yard guy who is selling just navigation and GPS antenna for $400. No DVD drive!

Was wondering if non-nav TL has DVD drive (by looking on dash it says DVD) or it navigation DVD drive is a must?

You'll need the DVD unit as well. This one is located in the trunk and the non-navi's don't have it.
