My Esotar tweeters are about to die
I had a problem this morning. I posted this over on DIYMA but the more exposure the better. Today was the first day with weather in the 30s this year. I started the car as usual and with no other changes there were about 5 very loud, random pops from the tweeters. These aren't the normal little pops, it sounds like a rock hitting the windshield at 80mph. The laptop was not plugged into the PS8. When I replaed the carpet a few months ago I replaced and cleaned up all wiring so I don't think it's wiring. These pops are scary, I've got to get this thing fixed asap because I don't think the tweeters will survive a lot of these pops.
I figure I'll start at the signal chain, disconnecting everything but the amps and work my way back, hooking up the PS8, the line driver, and finally the HU, one item each morning until the pop comes back.
In the meantime, anyone know if I can pick up a cap at Radioshack and what I would use for a 6ohm tweter for a 1.5khz highpass?

Do you still have your other tweeters?? Or is there an audio shop near you that you could pick up some cheapo tweets for the time being?? I would...
1. Take out the Dyn tweets
2. Replace with cheapo's or your other dyns (not cheapo's..but you know what I'm saying)
3. Make sure you can replicate the sound every time (assuming its not the tweeters, which I'm sure it's not)
4. You'd could use a cap also. They're cheap.
5. I definitely wouldn't try to find the problem while still having them hooked up. Cap or not. It's not worth it for those. Replace and then start trouble shooting.
