Initially, we left the stock amp in place and ran the zapco's after. The main reason the stock amp was removed was space. Ton's of wires/cables to fit under the kick panel...removing the stock amp made more room. No hiss either way.

I am not an expert, but I have heard others with hiss and all they had to do was turn down the gains on their amps and the hiss went away. The gains on my amps are real low, allowing for real clean/crisp sound.

Are the wires the same color when they go into the OEM amp vs. when they come out?

i know u dont' have this car any more but i got a couple of questions. Do you have a diy or pics for the dvdplayer u put in the arm rest and as well i liked the set up u had, do u really need the 3sixty or can u just use the high level inputs on the amp it self liek the jlaudio splash v2 (is there gonna be better sound going throught the processor)
tnx

I tried both the 3Sixty.2 and Alpine PXE-H650 and neither one was able to make the sound "exceptional". I highly recommend avoiding the headache, cost and disappointment and just buy amps that take a high-level input or use some high-quality LOCs with high-voltage output (I used Sound Gate), and the sound is great.

no i dont, but i will be doing the same on my new tl, i'll be sure to take some pics then. the sound was really good using the processor, alot of people have the 3sixty and are happy with it.

maybe your installer didn't know what he was doing. the sound on mine was "exceptional"! thats why i'll be going with the 3sixty again.

That'a boy. I wish people wouldn't tap/splice into the factory wiring. I don't think they realize that the factory uses cheap 20-22awg wire. Thats enough for like 25watts.... Wiring new hi-quality wire is the best way to do it.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is powering the center speaker on this install? You used a JL 450/4 for the main speakers, right?

By far the best looking setup I have seen so far up here...

One thing though...w/ the Yellow Top in the trunk, you know the farad cap doesn't have any benefits at all.

um...please elaborate.
from my understanding (and I'm no expert) a capacitor will store power and then release it with great speed - as opposed to a battery which will not release anywhere as much as fast.

jpt, you did you 3/4" plexi for the backboard correct? or lexan?

thats what i thought about the cap + batt combo. my new set up will just have an isolator to one kenetic battery no cap.

yes 3/4" plexi

I almost feel like we're competing. I'm actually getting mine together a bit faster than I thought. But it will be a few weeks until it is complete, at best. Maybe 2 months. I don't have much time between work and having to drive 200 miles away to my buddy's place where we're working on the project.

how far along are you?

Oh, and with the Kinetic battery, a cap (from what I was told) isn't really necessary as the battery itself is like a cap/battery combo. So you get the quick release for the extra lows.

I don't mind you asking, but I won't really answer until I'm done. I will say, my goal is to create the world's loudest 3g TL, with commonly used subs on this forum. I don't know if I'll meet that goal or not..... Based on my last enclosure and the type of vehicle it was in, this creation, in the TL, should be destructive. We shall see.

sweet... thanks! I had to do much the same with my Altima I had before this TL. Just wanted some pics for reference. thanks.

going to be installing: 3sixty.2, Seas w16nx mids, using some peerless, DA, or MB Q tweets for now, 2 PPI PC 2150's and then later add a Stereo Integrity BM MKIII sub and JLHD 900/5.

I dont want to have multiple big amps like my last install so I am going with the 900/5 to take on all the work.

The system looks sick, and i can only imagine how it sounded. Sorry to hear about the loss. Im working on a TL myself right now, and i was wondering if youd be able to give me a few pointers. I was thinking about copying the sub set up, but im not sure on how to go about the door speakers and the rear speakers along with replacing the stock sub... i have a w6 Jl and the same amp to power it as you did. already, so id love to hear your opinion, how would you change something if anything if you had a chance. thanks appreciate it.... wish you were near by, id pay you to do my trunk, lol

Since your a noob w/ 6 posts...I'll let it slide haha. Thread is kinda old and your best bet for a question or help from a specific person would be to PM them. They will get it/see it much quicker.

About your setup, you probably....actually I know you won't be able to replicate a setup like this unless you've had practice doing it. Hopefully you just mean copying the sub setup as in the same subs and just a built box. Anyways, for door and rear speakers it's up to you and your budget but we can help you making a choice with these. Also, you don't want to replace or use your stock sub. Just unplug it or take it out...and if you take it out, you might as well sound deaden that whole rear deck since that's the only way to get the stock sub out. If you have any questions just let me know!...And welcome
