I got most of my parts in and ready about to do the project. One huge big question, how do you get laptop audio into TL sound system? TL amp is very different because of the voice recongition.

check https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...1&postcount=26

I really want to get 5.1 audio DVD playback, how is it possible to connect to the stock amp?

I basically moved the stock LCD to the bottom compartment by extending a bunch of wires (40 or so), and put the xenarc there instead. Almost a perfect fit. =) didn't even have to gut the case etc...
How do you exactly extent those wire? cut them and then solder another wire to extent them?

I'm not sure, but I remember reading that the Acura amp uses a proprietary input for the 5.1 sound from DVD-A. I'm also reading that DVD-A may not be the most available format around (or even that desireable IMO, 5.1 music? really? why?).

So while thinking about adding a DVD player to my TL, I thought about changing the amp completely. Phoenix Gold makes 5.1 amps and this is their latest one:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOR51MT

It's only 50W x 5 + 100W x 1 RMS, but that's gotta be at least what the stock amp is putting out. It has digital inputs DD and Pro Logic decoding and an on screen display.

It may be worth checking out for ~$500.

Wow!! That is amazing. It looks as if it was built into the car originally.

i need a nav for my 04 Tl

Your system looks great! did you move the entire screen to the section above your shifter? or install a different one. I need to do what you did only I cannot install myself.

- USB Rikaline Bluetooth GPS
- USB Bluetooth receiver.
- Custom shutdown and startup controller.

The software i'm running is called mediaengine.

Isn't the stock screen(if you get the car with navi) 8 inches? Nice work, looks beautiful.

I Soooo agree. One reason I opted for no navi was.....um, 2000 dollars! Gimme a break, I bought my wife a garmin for $250 and its the SH*T! Yes I've used acura's version, good but not great and in my world no way worth 2k.

A carputer I can put together for less that does much much more....um, NO BRAINER! Did I mention the resolution of a xenarc is actually worthy of watching movies.

Another great idea.

Yo moahdib, can I ask how fast the navigation system responds. I mean does it have the speed as the stock unit or a garmin has, show the street your pulling up to within a second or 2? Any subscription fees? Thanks.
