Mute ?

Ok, I have had my TL for 3 days now, with 220 miles on it.. so I have been doing quite a bit of driving.. loving it.. oK, so one thing I can not seem to find is a mute button. How do lower the volume quickly w/o turnning it off?

Navi??

Hit voice command button or dial your BT phone, this will immediately "mute" your music without turning it off!?

How long does this 'mute' last?

where did he say he was talking about a phone? i thought he meant just to mute the stereo itself, regardless of the reason why.

Am I missing something?

He just tries to "mute" music.

To bring about this goal, you could press one of those two buttons to make it happen, no matter whether or not he's using the phone...

yea, but not everyone has a bluetooth phone. I guess the question really is, besides using your phone, can you mute the stereo?

Bluetooth phone or not, it still mutes the radio. You don't need to have a bluetooth paired. Try it & u will understand what we mean.

As for the real MUTE control, sorry,

Maybe this is why no one answers this Q in the beginning.

I just press the volume nob. In other words, I just turn the stereo off.

Problem with just turning off the radio is when you are listing to XM, it takes a bit longer to get the station back to playing... not much, but alot slower then just a mute button.

Why not use the button since it will do what you are asking about???
BTW, not very many cars come with a radio mute button.
I guess it is time to trade the car in then.

Acura did everything they could, but they sometimes do not know how to deal with stubborn customers who will not listen to good advice.

What people told you above, several times, is that you don't need a phone to use the top button in the little pod on the left side of the steering wheel (when the car is going straight down the road it is the left side, unless your steering wheel is seriously misaligned). It will beep once and will mute the radio and it will beep periodically to let you know the radio has been muted.

When you want to unmute the radio, press the bottom button. It will beep twice and sound will be forthcoming.

So this is not really a flaw of the car, but owner resistance.

To sum up:
Press the top button once for mute
Press the bottom button once for sound

If you press the voice recognition button won't it eventually say "pardon"? I cannot recall if the same thing happens with the talk button on the phone.

I've never had mine say that. It has either done what I asked or did something completely wrong.

Another useful tip: if you're listening to a CD/DVD-A, you can press the number of the disc which is playing, and it will pause the disc.

I use this more than I do the phone link buttons, because I usually don't want to hear the system tell me "Pardon?" or "No phones have been paired." shortly after. (I'm usually answering my non-BT phone at the time, and the person on the other end can hear it. It was quite fun to initially explain to my fiance since I chose the female voice).

But overall, the masses are correct about when you're listening to something besides a disc. The phone link is the quickest/easiest way to mute the system, without having to wait for it to come back on when you're finished.
