Multiple Phones in one TL

Hello,

Can the 2005 TL support 2 different blue tooth phones?

I am taking delivery 6/24/2005 and was wondering if the two driver memory settings also work with the blue tooth pairing. I would like the car to recognize both my wife's and my phone.

We are thinking of going with Motorola v551's.

Thank you in advance,

ED

It will support two phones, but will not allow both to be paired and in the car at the same time. Memory seat function does not apply to phone pairing.

I'm not sure what DEG means by "paired," but you can "pair" (as I understand the term--when you first set the phone up with the car) multiple phones with the car, up to six or something. You just obviously can't use two at the same time with the HFL. There was a guy who posted pretty detailed results about the behavior when you have multiple phones paired and two are in the car at the same time. I think he talked about how the car will pick up the first one detected, if it finds both it will recall the last one used, etc. but don't quote me on that. For the life of me, I can't find the friggin post, it was great detail. Sadly, only my wife's phone has bluetooth so it isn't an issue for me yet.

HFL will allow up to 6 trusted devices (phones) to be established but will only connect (pair) with one at any instant in time. Any stored names and associated numbers are common to all phones used. No seperate memory functions for each phone.

Hello,

Thank you for all the responses.

Any thoughts on the v551? Is this a good phone for the TL?

Pairing only happens once, the first time you enter the code and add the phone to TL's HFL. After that happens, the phone is paired with the car. The connections established between the phone and the HFL, after that point, do NOT involve any pairing. Pairing is only related to the initial setup, where two devices add one another to their 'trusted' list of devices, following which, they do not need to perform service discovery or authentication (usually). The TL can be paired with 6 different phones at any given time, but can only be connected to one during usage.

It's a great phone. I don't get a battery meter on it, but I don't care about that. I do get signal strength and all other functions work great. It sounds good and performs very well.

My answer: YES. It's a good phone for the TL.

I heard the best introductory(cheap) bluetooth phone that will display everything is the SE. Although the RAZR has dropped in price significantly.
