Motorola V710 display problem
Motorola V710 display problem
I've had my Motorola V710 since last September, and it's worked perfectly until yesterday.
I went to use the phone yesterday afternoon, and when I opened it, the display was "scrambled". Both the main and outer displays are affected.
The outer display no longer works at all, and the main display shows a shifted "ghost" image of what would normally be there. It's completely unreadable. The phone can still make and receive calls, but I can't use any functions that require the display, such as the phonebook.
The phone has not been dropped or spilled on.
I stopped by my local Verizon store yesterday, and they're shipping a new phone to me by tomorrow. I'll have to ship back the defective phone within ten days.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this type of problem with the V710. This is my first warranty claim for any cell-phone I've owned since my first in 1992.
Regards,

I'm just wondering if it's a problem that others have encountered. A quick search on the web didn't turn up anything, but I know a lot of members of this forum bought the V710 when it came out.
I'm very pleased with the phone despite this problem. It's a great phone (but a CRAPPY camera!). I just hope it's not a sign of quality control issues. The phone is made in China, and that's not exactly the mark of excellence.
Regards,
i've heard of a couple of friends having similar issues. mine was fine and all of a sudden it would never connect on outgoing calls, and go straight to voicemail on incoming. it turned out to be something w/ the phone. someone else's just stopped turning on, and another acted wierd whe the memory chip was in it. my new one works fine, great phone, hope this one doesn't freak out. i really want to keep it, but not if my 2ND one goes bad.
I requested my replacement phone on a Sunday and got the replacement by FedEx on Wednesday.
The replacement phone was WORSE. The display worked fine, but no one could hear me and it sounded like I was calling from the moon.
I ended up calling Customer Service and having a replacement phone held for me at the Massapequa store. The replacement's replacement is fine.
Great phone, sucky camera. I hope I was just unlucky this time. I've never had to warranty replace a phone in the thirteen years I've owned cell phones.

Is there a way with the V710 to get the battery meter to display in the radio display. The mid displays both the battery and signal strength, but only signal strength near radio display.
Also, when calling your own number to reach voicemail, how do you enter your security code to retrieve messages.

v710 settings
I keep missing calls and then discover that my volume/ring setting has been switched to mute.
I then change it back to ring. And then will discover some time later that it's back on mute. I'm not sure if this is happening by me by hitting the outside buttons by mistake that change ring settings. If this is what is happening, it's a real pain.
Is there a way to Lock these settings? I've looked all over my phone and in the manual, but can't find anything.
Is this happening to anybody else? Or is there some problem with my phone?
