Moto V710 info...
If you haven't seen it yet...It looks like the earlist the V710 will come out is sometime in August or September. I say this because if you go to hellomoto.com and click on "motochicago" and then click on the bottom right of the page where it says "check out prizes", you can read that they start giving away the V710 in August. But if you click on official rules in the upper left of the screen, you can read that the sweepstakes #4 is the first time they give away the V710 and the contest starts on 9/3 - 9/5 and the winner will be announced on 9/13. I thought I would share that with all of you since those of us with Verizon are all in the same boat.
Just pick a provider who has SIM cards and get the v600. I got an unlocked/unbranded v600 for $250 for switching to T-Mobile from AT&T. AT&T didn't charge me a fortune for leaving early either because I just had them terminate my contract once its up and change my plan to the cheapest one in the meantime.
The problem with other providers other than Sprint and Verizon is that I can't make calls from my house in Nassua County. I've tried T-Mobile, Cingular and AT8T GSM, all are very unreliable from my house. AT&Ts regular system works O.K, but it's lousy in general and doesn't have bluetooth.
I'm stuck with Verizon or Sprint.

So you had to become an AT&T customer to get the phone, then went to t-mobile for service? Sorry for the questions, I'm just not sure how this works.
Thanks,

Alright, quite a few questions to answer.
First off, I bought the cell phone unlocked from a cell phone store, thats how they sell it.
Next, I used to use AT&T and if I wanted to just buy out the phone, without new service, and use my AT&T SIM card it would have cost 500 bucks. Instead, I started a NEW plan with T-Mobile and got the phone for $250 since they credit the retailors who sell their plan. You don't NEED to be any customer of any service to get the phone, you just don't get a discount unless you switch to another provider.
Finally I really have no problems with T-Mobile. I always have close to full service. I used to have AT&T and the service was horrible.

Ps
Theres a guy on e-bay who claims to have 10 v710's in stock. He's selling them for $399 USB wire, wireless USB connection, Wireless head set, and Wireless speakerphone. The only thing that makes me nervous is that he says the phone will be shipped from Euroupe.
THOUGHTS?
THOUGHTS?
Does this guy on ebay have an aol account? I was trying to get the V80 and this guy
was from europe and wanted western union 300.00 bucks. I said no way as he didn't sound legit. If you do buy from him let me know if you get ur goods.

One very common scam on E-Bay is for a foreign individual to require a Western Union Payment only (not Pay-Pal).
With the Western Union payment, your money's just gone - with no recourse. It's almost as if you're sending the dude/dudette a free gift. Their ad gets pulled a day or two later, but if they hooked someone while the ad was running, they win! Kinda like fly-fishing ...
Good News
I just called motorolas customer service and the rep said that Verizon should be ready to release before the end of next week...If I have to wait longer than that I'm gonna kill somone!
Display
Does the incoming calls display the person's name if you have the number setup in your address book. I have a Siemens S56 and even though I have people's names/numbers programmed- incoming calls only show the number on the MID display. Just wondering if other phones work different.

There's one on ebay right now - bidding started at $499 and is now up to $810!!!!
Sorry, no phone is worth that as much as I would like to have Verizon.
I'm giving Verizon another month to get their act together then bye,bye....it's BullS$#@t that they're dragging their feet so long on this bluetooth issue. They're just affraid that the bluetooth may cut into their 'get it now' scam.

Switching Cell Phone Carriers
I really want to stick with Verizon, but I want BlueTooth. It seems that the dealys with Verizon will not end soon! Is there anyone in the DC, MD, VA area that is having any look with a carrier other than Verizon?
Have Verizon and Cingular
I had a Verizon family plan with two Kyocera 3035 phones. Just got our 2004 TL's [two, one for me the other for my wife
] and I dropped one of the phones from the Verizon family plan and picked up a Cingular plan [went into a Cingular store] and purchased the Motorolo V600 phone. There's a $50 mail in rebate till July 31, 2004 so the phone cost $219 at the Cingular store and then I should get $50 back by mail. I also saw that the phone is available at Best Buy a little cheaper but I wanted to be sure it would work with the TL before I bought it and the Cingular store let me check it out in the car first
.
I don't have enough experience with the phone yet to tell you about reception in the MD-DC area [I live in Hyattsville, MD] but the phone did partner easily with both of the TL's and the signal bars [with the phone laying on the seat of the TL] is 3 or more. Cingular is an option if you want a bluetooth that works in the TL but all the carrier coverage comparisons I've seen in the Washington Post [for the MD-DC-VA area] put Verizon coverage as the best. Nevertheless, I decided to try Cingular and see how it works in this area and then down the East coast to Florida [Miami area] this late fall.
I can post more information as I gain more experience if you'd like. Let me know.

My wife and I have Sprint (T608 from Sony Ericson) and have had no issues. I switched from Verizon 4 years ago and could not be happier with the service. I live in Hughesville and commute daily to Mclean and beside a weak signal on 231 outside of Aqusco there are no bad areas.
