To all you foes in Los Angeles, Orange County, or even outside of California with NaviTraffic from XM.
I recently got my second (new) TL-S and I noticed that the freeway status on the 10 fwy between the 405 and 5 are not showing. I never had traffic report from between this section while other sites such as maps.google.com, maps.yahoo.com, www.sigalert.com, www.tann.com, and www.traffic.com all shows up fine.
I have wrote to XM 4 times and they gave me the same EXACT reply telling me improvement is coming soon... The only thing I ask for is can XM check their system to see if the 10 works for them. I will shut up if they say it is not working on their end. I dont know anyone with NaviTraffic that can verify to see if it is my system of the XM network.
Please board member, can you check to see if the 10 fwy between 405 and 5 is showing on your? I spend 5 hours on the 10 fwy each day.
Thanks in advance.

If XM traffic is based on the freeway cameras like Sigalert.com, then the I-10 between the 405 and 110 should be decently covered (every other exit or so). However, there are just one or two cameras on the I-10 between the 110 and the 5/10/60 interchanges.
And yes, traffic is generally jacked weekdays except between 11 am and 3 pm.

Thanks all. I don't know if I should be happy that the 10 fwy problem is not working for you all as well. Who ever vendor XM is using should switch since 5 other web sites are working but just not XM.
Also true that the 10 is very slow. I can ride my bicycle faster to work. I'm just not as cool w/o my Aruca.

No need for XMTraffic when it comes to I-405.
I've never not seen it jacked up any time I've ever been to LA.
My friends who live in Pacific Palisades agree.
Ahhhh yes........those hour+ trips to LAX ..........

Well, I wrote to XM and asked them why this is the case. Told them that I was using their XM for 90 days on a trial basis. Here is their reply. So hopefully it is now working. I'll have to check my navi when I get on the road after work.
was just forwarded your message from our instant traffic and weather team.
Hopefully your navigation system should now be showing this I-10 information. XM receives much of its traffic information from local and state government agencies. In this case, your local department of transportation (Caltrans) had taken the sensors offline on the I-10 for construction, then was slow to get them back online.
Here was the notification that we received on Tuesday, informing us that the data would be back online on Wednesday.
"I am happy to announce we are restoring Digital Coverage to the I-10 Santa Monica Frwy in Los Angeles. The section between the I-5/US-101 and the I-405 was removed from the Digital Roadway Table months ago due to a long-term construction project that caused sensor outages. Most of the sensors are now back online and have recently become available. However, please note that Caltrans will be working on the communication system for these sensors an additional six months. Caltrans advises that there will likely be some instability during this period."
Please let me know if you are still seeing any issues on this roadway, and I apologise for the inconvenience here.
Best Regards,
Sven Finnis
