Mediagate MG-350HD

Just FYI, AL Tech is releasing its wireless network capable MG-350HD media player at the end of this month (Aug '06). Its basically the bigger brother to the Mediagate MG-25 and supports regular 3.5" desktop size hard drives.

Here is an excerpt from dealnews.com:
PC Micro Store is taking preorders for the MediaGate 3.5" Wireless HD Media Enclosure, model no. MG-350HD, for $249.95. With shipping around $5, it's the lowest total price we've seen. (It's scheduled to ship August 25.) This MG-350HD enables users to access video, music, pictures from any computer on your existing Ethernet or 802.11g network. A 3.5" IDE hard drive can also be installed for direct storage and playback. Various media formats are supported, including MP3, WMA, DivX, XviD, and more. A remote control is included.
Here are the full specs from the AL Tech website and the review on CNet.

This device might fit in the glove box or under the seats, but probably too big for the center storage console in the TL.

Its just another alternative to the conventional DVD player.

man I'm having a tough time deciding whether to go for the 2.5" model or the 3.5" model.

On one hand I have an extra 250GB 3.5" drive I could use, but the 3.5" model seems to be considerably more bulky than the 2.5" model. But I would also need to buy a 2.5" hard drive and the max capacity is half of what I can get with a 3.5" model. I don't know what to do

Well you going to hide the unit anyways, so if you already have an extra 3.5 drive why buy a new 2.5 one? They work the same way, you'll just have to relocate the unit, say under the seat or glovebox

Not sure what i'd do with all that space...
I have 100GB of MP3 loaded up, and it's a BEAR to navigate.

Not sure what the 35 navigation is like, but if it's with the remote, it's gonna be awkward.
