Many newbie questions about the 2006 TL w/NAVI & radio

Hello,

I currently have a 2001 Acura TL and am close to being ready to trade in. I may wait if there are big changes in the navi/radio in the 2007.

1. a. does the 2006 TL let you play mp3's? b. does any other honda or acura?

2. What is the PC card for?

3. a. What version of BT is in the Acura TL 2006 - 1.1, 1.2, 2.0? b. Is there a newer version in any other honda/accord or a new version predicted in the 2007 model?

4. The 2006 didn't let me use street names by voice command for address entry. I could get to that screen but manually had to enter street names - does the 2006 TSX let you enter names of streets by verbally entering them - e.g. 100 main street, springrield, etc?

5. a. How many amps is the radio? b. Can I hook another amp to the 2006 TL radio ( difficult to do with the old BOSE in my car)? Any issue with replacing the speakers?

6. Is it hard to make the DVD player capable of playing movies?

7. a. Any ability to beam things from your BT WM5 device? I have a 6700 and would love to beam addresses and phone numbers. If the 2006 TL does not do any acuras/hondas let you do this?

1a. No

1b. Not the Accord nor TSX. Though the TSX has AUX in and the Accord has an MP3 "deck" as optional accessory.

Thats all I feel comfortable about answering... he hee..

For the TL, you could use the iPod interface, but it was a bit too rich for my blood (at least as a dealer installed option it was insane). The in-dash CD player will not read MP3 CD's as mentioned above.

What PC card do you speak of? I didn't get a PC card with my TL.

Haven't seen a bluetooth version number ... would assume either 1.1 or 1.2.

Radio amps/speakers ... can't say, have only had the car for a day, and haven't started looking for more power from the stereo yet.

PC card slot is attached to the Navi DVD drive located in the trunk.

boe_d, as for answers for 5 and 6, just browse the Audio subforum. Members have added/replaced amps, subs, speakers, dvd players, video game systems, rear view cameras, and even a computer! So its all very possible. Just depends on how much time and money you want to invest in it.

2. diagnostics, apparently, by a dealer.
4. I don't think any of them do this. I wish they did, or at least let you spell the name verbally.
5a. Do you mean power? or how many amplifiers? There is one external amplifier for all 6 channels.
5b. Yes, you can replace the amp. The only issue is level matching.
5c. No real issues, only that the speakers are 6.25 rather than 6.5 inches so you may have to trim them.
6. yes.
7. to my knowledge, you cannot modify the BT phone book from an external device. It's really not that sophisticated.

Thanks.

On the TSX I verified in another forum that you can enter addresses verbally although it doesn't seem perfected yet.

Good to know. About the only time I listen to music is in the car so having a good sound system would be a good investment. It was too much effor with the old Acura Bose system.
