Man I hate the sound of our sub........

sorry if this is off base but I haven't seen any mention to it... I know its semi cheese but has anyone considered one of those amplified bazooka tubes I mean couldn't the Sig either splice into the stock sub or just outright replace it I dunno any thoughts?

I'm thinking about building my own bass vent/tube out of a 12" JL and channeling that up to the hole where the current 8" sub is located. Sorta the same thing but the bonus would be, the woofer is not mounted on the rear deck so hoping to avoid vibrations. Plus the tub may help to channel air in and out, which may help to amplify the lower freq's. Just an idea.
I also like JNC2000's comments. I used to have a set of 6x9's mounted in an old car in the rear deck. No box, except for the trunk itself. And it was amazing the amount of bass form those speakers! Imagine a rear sub. Plus if you can have a ported box sound good, and a sealed box sounds "ok", then using the trunk as a box will work just as well. Just gotta keep the rear deck from rattling. Regardless, I may just go ahead and build a box and channel it up to the hole.

Well I wasnt even goin that complicated but i figured that i'd take out stock to prevent rattling rattle proof the deck and use the wiring from stock deck to signal the tube and run seperate power to battery.. I was thinkin bout the bazooka 250w 10in.. that way I wouldnt have to mess with the stocks and still e able to keep the unique surround sound.. I mean dont get me wrong in my scion and altima Ive got bostons w solo bar and alpine r's with p3;s but I jus thought to keep it simple in my acura... does this not seem so do able for jus a lol more but not to crazy with all the complication in our audio setups?

having an 8" sub in IB on a deck that will resonate like crazy isn't going to work if you're looking for much. Why not put a 10" in the trunk, in a box?? VERY little space will be taken up and you will get much more usable output. Hell even that same 8" in a box would be 10x better

Yes you can use the factory sub wires. Just pull down the trunk liner and find the harness into the sub. Tap into that and you're good to go. You'll still have control on the Nav or non-nav unit
If you do this though, the signal will already be crossed, so you'll want to turn the x-over to FP on the amp you're using. Post amp voltage is right around 4-5v. Pre-amp is around 0.2v

You're never going to get much volume from a little 8" IB. It won't take much power and it wont get loud. Plus you'll have to deal with awful rattles, depth issues, reinforcement of the rear deck metal issues, etc. There are subs that need next to nothing for space when put in a sealed box. You wouldn't even see if when opening the trunk most likely. Definitely a boxed setup, unless you wanted to do IB correctly

You can build a very small sealed box with a single 12" firing down with little feet like a table. a box about 20"wide, 8"high, 13"deep and run a 500 watt RMS class D sub amp. Overstuff the box with Partsexpress Acousta-stuff insulation. Use 3/4" MDF to build the enclosure. Then open the door through to the truck to let the bass come into the interior. You can even make a little frame and cover it with speaker grill cloth to cover the hole to the trunk by the back seat armrest.
