LOC Questions
Ok I did do a search for LOCs and found some good information. However, I am unable still to have this questions answered.
I plan on hooking up my speakers here in a couple months that was from my old TC. Its a killer system so I want to be prepared to put it in my TL and its going to take a while to get all the right parts.
Anyhow, on the LOCs what kind of Volts does it give out. Ya know that some headunits give out 5 Volts and some 8 Volts, etc. My alpine amps do not adjust by gain they adjust by how many volts are coming out from the 'head unit'. So I wanted to know if anyone knew how many Volts come out so I could properly set my amps.
Hope this makes sense.

line output converter
alot are adjustable. its not going to have the output power that a good head unit has. the other thing with the adjustable ones is that you can "turn up" distortion. they've got there pro's and con's. lemme know if you want me to go into more detail on them or anything car audio related.

yeah I was looking at getting the PAC Trunk-LOC with the line for remote turn on without having to find a switching power source. I am pretty sure I won't have much distortion but who knows.

I don't think LOCs use a power source, so no turn-on lead is required. I'm using PAC LOCs and all you need to do is adjust the gain using a small flathead screwdriver. I don't know about voltage either -- I just based the right level on the amount of hiss coming out of my speakers. When that sounded good, that's where I left them. Is there a better way?

use the amp's gain level to whatever you want!

the thing is the alpine mrd-m605s only set the gain according to the input of the signal from the RCAs or the headunit at that. You are not able to adjust the gain on the fly (meaning that you have to set it to whatever the rcas are inputting)

Very good question. I have an Alpine MRD-M605 as well. But I still think it's the same as if it were the old-fashioned gain dial -- ideally it should match up voltage-wise, but since you don't have a readout on the LOCs, you just have to go by ear. Maybe the LOC package has info on voltage output....
