Little thump in the trunk :)

just got my new sub and amp installed. sounds great still breaking it in so im low on the gain but it was a great upgrade to the factory system..also before i got this installed i unhooked the noise cancellation for the rear. sub is an alpine type x in a sealed box with a hifonics brutus amp at 2 ohms around 1000 watts rms...

Type-X! Awesome!

I've had my R for almost 7 years and it still hits pretty hard. I've thought about getting a X though.

A lot of that has to do with the fact that these amps are not CEA Compliant....meaning Hifonics says 1000 watts, but it probably wouldn't come even close when rated properly. I'm glad you like, but the 1000 watts is probably peak and not happening.

Probably 1000 total when you add all the 4ohm and 2ohm (and 1ohm if it's stable) ratings. So stupid how manufactures do that, but they get people all the time. "My amp is 3,000 watts!!!".....nope.....not its not.

Like Jerry said, as long as it makes you happy then that's all that matters. You should consider building a sealed box that's long and shallow so it doesn't take up trunk space. My is 31" long, but only 10" deep. Only 10" of trunk space taken up and one of these days I'll get a beauty panel up there so it looks even better.

....plus an amp rack. But first I need to just tune my setup.

OMG I have A LOT to do

no i know what you mean but belive me this amp is putting out every bit of 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms i know that for a fact...this amp has seen 2 12 inch type r's at 2 ohms in a 32hz 4.0 cubic foot box and they were both getting the 500 watts each they were rated for..also had it hooked to a 15 inch at 1 ohm and it was getting a decent amount of power....

I don't doubt that it puts out power, just not what it says. If it's the amp I think it is....3,000 watts @ 1ohm for $220? I've been there, done that with Maxxsonics and I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for in car audio now.

Again...for someone not into SQ and just wanting some thump, that's probably perfect! As long as you like it

its not 3000 at 1 ohm its 2000 with the right amount of volts fed to it (12.6) and i paid a little over 300 for it about 2 years ago...its the bxi2008d...and yeah im pretty happy with it its sounds clean and stays cool..what are you running man?

edit: never mind its in your sig...i had those same speakers the image dynamics in my old altima ser they were awesome!

Ah ok, thought you had the 2608d. Being that it's not CEA rated, I wonder where they rated it at. I'm going to say it's likely at 14.4v and even then it might be just be tons of distortion.

You have it fused?? I don't think those are fused....

Even if it only does 600 watts, the difference between 600 and 1000 is maybe 1.5-2dB at full tilt which is just a couple click on the radio. I just don't like companies that aren't exactly truthful with their ratings. It's bad for the industry as a whole and not fair to the consumer. Unless you bench tested the unit, you would have no idea what it is really giving you, hence why there is CEA standards. Any company not using the standards is trying to screw the consumer, IMO.

What's the deal with that Zuki Audio company? Their amps are loved over at diyma and supposedly have plenty of power, but their specs state like 5 watts x 4 @ 4ohm, 10x4 @ 2ohm, etc. Have you seen that?
