LEDs installed (Night Pics)

Ok. 1st, THANKS TO Kennedy..........his threads/posts were very helpful. I went with V-LEDs for all my LEDs, I just took Kennedy's advice & slightly modified it using V-Leds for my order.

Here is what I did:

4 INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS -- HID White 6 LED bulbs (size 194)

2 Door/Courtesy Lights -- HP LED White Multi socket BOARD LED (size 194)

1 Glove Box Bulb -- SMT HP White Wedge Base Bulb (size 74)

2 License Plate bulbs -- HID White High Power License Plate Kit (size 194)

2 Reverse Bulbs -- SMT 18 LED White (Tower) Bulb (size 921)

**I accidentally only ordered ONE of the HP LED White boards for my door lights, so I am waiting for V-LEDs to ship out another one. For $12.99, I thought I was getting 2 of these babies........not ONE. SHEESH, these are PRICEY!!

Ok...................Here are some photos!!!!!! Enjoy!!

AND NOW................The REVERSE & License Plate LEDs:

Take a look at how much LIGHT gets all the way down on to the STREET from these new License Plate LEDs!!!! WOW!!

Take a look at how MUCH BRIGHTER THE REAR VIEW CAMERA IS.......NICE!!

These BULBS are a "COOL WHITE" color...........similar to HID. They are not BLUE, but the camera makes them look a little BLUE.

Thanks for these pics man.. i plan on doing exactly what you did and order direct from V-LEDS...but only thing that worries me is they look very blue in the pictures and i wanted something white like sixsixfour's setup. Can you confirm that they are white and not that blue?

Also did you order the SMT 6 LED boards ot the M-SMT LEDs?

Snafu, Its plug and play, only thing you may need to do is bend out the metal contact on the new LED bulbs to ensure they make contact( I have not yet installed the LED's but this is from what I have read so far). And for the license plate there are 2 bulbs.

Chrome, I believe they are all the same... at least i know for sure that 04-06 use the 194, 196 wedge bulbs for the plates, vanity, dome and door lights.

I'm going to place an order for the License Plate LEDs through V-LEDs.com. Quick question to confirm - a set comes with 2 bulbs for $9.99, right? And all I need is 2 bulbs, correct?

Thanks!

Snafu, thats right, 2 bulbs is all you need to replace the license plate bulbs. I just made a purchase for the entire interior, door lights and license plate bulbs. Cost me $48 total.

I agree with Vegas that the 6 LED light is the way to go for interior on my 2005 TL. I have both the 6 and 4 LED, and the 4 is simply not bright enough.

Has anyone replaced the High Mount Brake lights with LEDs? I can't seem to get the cover off to see what bulb is needed - is it the same as the tail lights? The sylvania cross reference simply says "assembly". Does that mean it's a complete assembly that needs to be replaced?

Also I tried to get at the trunk bulb but can't seem to get the cover off. I started to pry at it, but don't want to break it and it isn't moving at all. Any recommendations?

High mount is already LED.

For trunk light, theres a clip similar to the rear cabin lights

I thought the trunk lens was the same/similar to the Vanity Lenses? Pretty Sure.

The Vanity Lenses are PITMFA. Thats one engineer that should roast in hell for all eternity, replacing burned out 3G Vanity Mirror Bulbs.

for the vanity mirrors and trunk, if you look closely, you will see that there is a slight discoloration (like a cut out for a tab) on one side that you can stick your screwdriver in. For the vanities, it's on the inside (toward the middle of the car). Use a long, thin screw driver and slide into that groove all the way to the light "cavity" while gently prying downward. There is a plastic spring like clip that you'll be pushing on that will release the light lens. Be careful not to push too hard or you will break the clip and have to replace the entire lens.

The trunk is the same but it's much, much more tightly in place. If I recall correctly, I had to access the tab for mine from the right (passenger side) of the lens.

Hope this helps.

I wouldn't get neither of them, cause it just wouldn't be bright enough for the interior.. if you do get them, everything will look dim and dark.

http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481

I would get these.

Plus for the front dome lights the bulbs are plugged in horizontally, so the light output would NOT be projected downward.

Rear dome lights are facing downward so the ones you posted might work back there, but it won't be bright enough IMHO.

You may need different bulbs for front and rear dome lights. They are the same socket type, but I went with 6LED wedge bulbs in rear, and 5 LED "tower" bulb in the front because the 6 LED weren't bright enough for me in the front. The difference is that the rear bulbs point downward, but the front point horizontally. The 5 LED tower points one LED directly down, the other four are in the other directions. This produces a much brighter front than back seat, but that's what I wanted. The 6 LED's didn't seem as bright as the incandescent OEM bulbs in the front because they pointed into the side of the reflector.

5 LED 'tower' link

Looks like jimsta and I were posting at the same time. The 11 SMT certainly would work, and would be much brighter than the 5 LED bulbs I am using.

LOL, yea I posted and then I noticed hey, someone posted right after me and lo and behold, we posted the exact same information.

Also i would add that for myself I actually picked up the 6 SMT Flank LEDs but it didn't work out too well ,cause they are polarized(meaning they have to plug in a certain way), so for the front domes, the driver side was facing downward while the passenger side faced upward into the dome which was just retarded. So i just used those for the courtesy lights and the SMT towers for my front domes.
