LED Stip lighting - install
LED Stip lighting - install
So a while back I purchased a set of 9" LED strip lights from Oznium.com.
Have been lazy with installing em but I'm doing it now. Trying to anyways. Now keep in mind I'm terrible with wiring.
So the wires aren't red and black coated. Its clear, one with copper wiring, the other with silver (i guess nickel?). Anyways, I did a search and couldn't find my answer. I hear people saying to wire it to a fuse. Okay I get that, but I tried tonight, wiring to both fog light fuse, and low-beam fuse. Unsucessful.
Now I was told to wire the power wire to the fuse, and ground out the other wire to a bolt. So I did this but the LED's never fired on. So would someone please explain to me what I'm doing wrong and what I SHOULD be doing? Its frustrating not being able to figure out what should be a simple thing.
Flame away if you must. As long as I get the help I need in the end I'm happy
Thanks

Yep, thats the first thing I did. Both strips work just fine. I guess I answered my own question as the copper wire is the grounding (black) wire. But I still cant figure out how to wire it to the fuse and get it to work.
where are you trying to connect them to? here's the general idea..
Positive from battery to one terminal on a switch. The 2nd terminal of the switch should go to one end of the fuse. The other end of the fuse will go to the positive wire of the LED strip. Then take the ground wire of the LED strip and connect it to a ground wire.
and then you can turn the lights on and off via the switch. if you are looking to put these strips instead of the fogs then you can tap into the positive and negative wires of each OE foglight harness. You don't need a fuse, but its good practice to put one in
