Latest Orange Disc

Make it so
Ok whew, I thought I had lost my marbles there for a second. I was guessing that's what he meant, but I wanted to double check.
Looks like the latest disc will be my self-bought Christmas present, unless I can find it somewhere for cheaper than on the official site.

Need a little clarification - please... I have 2006 with the original DVD and thinking about getting 2010 update. Problem with the current one is that it's actually worse than the one I had in my TL2000. Not only it has the same errors the 2000 had, but it's got new ones. Old version led me directly to home - the new one misses the last left turn (although it's on the map) for reasons unknown and ends up with sending me an extra mile (and a u-turn) of driving. Something with the route selection isn't right (I've tried different settings).
Now questions: does route selection algorithm sit on DVD (and gets upgraded with it) or it's embedded into navi's hardware? Also, when I was driving new TL (as a loaner), I noticed that it's much more precise in terms of positioning - seems that error is no more than just a few feet (if that), while mine can be 40 - 50 feet off. Would new disk improve that? Appreciate your help!

^^^ not sure about your problem
anyways I put my new disc in yesterday. It is somewhat better but still not perfect. For example on the old disc if I looked for Walmart it would tell me there is only 3 and they were all 2000 miles away in South Carolina. Now with the new disc it comes up with a bunch of listings but its clearly not all of them because the one closest to my house is not on there.
Anyways at least all the roads are updated now, my Dad's house is no longer in the middle of nowhere. Another positive is all the gas station icons are updated.
Overall I was hoping for it to be perfect, its not, but its probably good enough I guess.

I would say, no. It's really hard to justify that cost, it is really an absurd amount to charge for just an update.
That said if you are like me and you love your car, and you want your car to not embarass you when other people are in your car, then I guess it is worth it.

No, but the disk was worth the $149 + tax & shipping I paid in October.
I updated from the 2005 to the 2009 edition; I think an update every 3-4 years in metro SoCal is fine.

New DVD - so far people have been mostly mentioning improvements in "places" category and some new roads that are now on the map. That's good, but not good enough (for me, at least) to pay $200. Has anybody noticed improvements in:
position accuracy?
Route selection (selects optimal route, as far as you can tell)?
route calculations speed?
Appreciate your help!

^^ This may be an isolated case with me since i did my navigation conversion and took the parts out of an 06 TL with version 3.6 DVD. I thought the precision and route calc was horrible using that disc and slow as well. but i dont know if it was the disc itself or not. I had the 3.6 DVD for about 2 weeks then upgraded to the 3.9 disc and the route calculation was alot faster (could b because its a brand new disc) the the calculation of routes was alot better. Position acuracy i couldnt really tell a difference. The map being updated however for the NY area was the selling point for me bcause from the 3..6 disc it needed to be updated.

Position accuracy seems to be better so far. Sometimes the old disc my car marker would start driving off into the hills in a perpidicular direction to that which I was driving lol. This didn't happen that often but so far this one seems to not have that problem. As far as route calculation, I haven't really tested it that much but the old one was never really that slow for me so that was not a big deal. I am sure route selection would be improved on the new disc as there are new roads and various changes that have been updated.
