Laser scrambler

I'm going to be picking up the escort 8500 x50 in a couple of days. Now, I'm aware that police use laser, too, to detect speeding cars. So, I'm going to pick up a blinder m20 extreme for my car. I know that laser scramblers require professional installation.

So, I have three questions:

1. What should I expect to pay for the installation?
2. Will it void my warantee? (Its leased)
3. My lease is up in one year. Would it be worth getting now, then having it to switch cars after a year?

1) Don't know
2) Only voids your warranty if the addition of said item caused the failure of a part or item on your car.
3) If it were me, I would wait the year and buy it in a year and install it on my next car.

Why do you say it requires "professional" installation, that is not true? If you don't know what you're doing then professional installation is probably recommended, but there are plenty of people that have installed the Blinder and other like laser jammers themselves.

I looked at the new 8500 x50 but there are some new lasers that the government are coming out with now that no radar detector on the market can pick up. Like Tripp said I would wait a year or so until someone comes out with the latest and up to date detector. Just my 2

The Government doesn't produce laser guns for speed monitoring private industry does. The speed countermeasures games never stops. If you look at a reliable LIDAR test they will test the jammers against 5 or 6 different guns, each of various evolving technologies. You will see that some of the jammers work against some of the guns and others not, some will hit 5 out 6, and some will hit all. Speed countermeasures is a constant game of cat and mouse and if you keep waiting for technology advances to stop you will never be in the game.

I've heard the 9500i isn't as sensitive as the x50.

It's got some nice features but it might have too many.

Like HiTEC said, the government doesn't produce them, private industries do. Here are a couple of links. A radar detector will do you just fine unless you plan on driving like a complete maniac day after day. Even then, remember that radio travels faster than a car.
