Basically you cut A5, A6, A13 and A14, which leaves 4 wires from the XM receiver connector and 4 wires that run into the headunit/amp.
Then do you connect one speaker wire to A5 and A6 (R+ and L+) on the connector, one for A13 and A14 (R- and L-) on the connector, and then the same on the 4 wires going to the headunit/amp.
On the headphone plugs, do you then take the A5, A6 connector wires, plug into one jack, then the A5, A6 headunit wires, connected to the other jack for one of the prongs. For the other prong, connect A13, A14 connector wires in one jack and then the A13, A14 headunit wires into the other jack. Then connect the ground wire for the ground prong.
Does this sound correct or have I got it all wrong?
Thanks for the info.

I did speaker wire to R+ and R- and another speaker wire for L+ and L-. I then tied the two R- and L- together. Once hooked up to the headphone jack, I applied electrical tape to the metal for each prong so each prong was insulated. I then taped all 4 wires togeter near the headphone jack to give the whole thing strength.
I connected just one of these -- the head unit wires -- and then tried it just to confirm I was correct. Then do the XM part (if you want). As you connect each wire, make sure you know what you are connecting -- double check as you go and things will go smoothly.

Note the two negative wires connected to the horizontal prong.

I had mine installed this summer. When I switch it to XM and turn up the volume above 20, I can hear whizzing noise. Also, the xm audio strength is lower than others (ipod, cds, radio) at the same volume level. Does anyone experience this? Thanks.

@foot3ch: yeah... ive noticed that the XM volume is quite a bit lower than that of the CD player! Its kind of annoying actually... i have a full JL Audio system installed with cleansweep and STILL the XM doesnt get too loud at full volume (40). With the CD changer, when the volume is at 25 it sounds great! Can anyone explain this?

Thank you very much for the clarification. I greatly appreciate it and will try this mod this weekend. The original writeup was very good, I guess I was just thinking too hard

It looks like the P.I.E. X-3 switcher gives you the same functionality as a plug and play solution. Have you looked at this?
