hey guys, been a lurker on this site for a bit. Having a problem randomly with locking my doors with my remote on a 2004 Acura TL. The Unlock button and trunk unlock buttons on the remote work fine during this time. If I'm in the car, and press the lock button on the remote, it will not work. If i try and lock the doors with the lock button on the door, that does not work. If I go and manually press the lock down on each door, hitting the lock button on the remote, the car will "chirp" and the lights flash as usual. Sometimes, I'm able to wait a bit and then it will lock using the remote. Other times it will not work if i wait 2 minutes or 10 mintues or longer. Its the strangest thing and I haven't been able to determine anything common about it besides always happening after I've been driving. I've search a few threads and saw that someone replaced the electrical ECU for this, but that seem drastic. I've tried unconnecting the battery and then reconnecting but that has not worked. Any other ideas?

 

Try replacing the battery in the key fob.

Do the doors lock if you push the lock button in the car?
Do the doors auto lock when you put the car in drive and start moving?
Do the doors UNLOCK with the fob and button in the car?

If you answered, no, no, yes....it's the lock relay which is unfortunately integrated into the drivers side cabin fuse box so in order to fix it you have to replace the whole fuse box.

My car does the same thing, haven't replaced the box yet.
