Question Key fobs completely unresponsive '04 TL

New member here. Just bought a '04 TL with 156K miles on it. Person I bought it from said I just needed to replace the batteries in FOBs which I hastily didn't question. I've replaced the batteries in both of the FOBs and neither work. No lights flicker, no noises...nothing. I've tried to re-program them but may not have done it correctly. Either way, can someone tell me what the different issues could be so that I may troubleshoot? Many thanks in advance!

You should need no reprogramming, assuming they ever operated the locks in the first place.
Are you sure you installed the batteries right side up?

Check out this thread.

Also, check the FCC codes on the back of the keyfobs, which should read OUCG8D-387H-A IC: 850G-G8D387HA and below these it shows GHD-387HA. If not the same, won't work.

Thanks for the reply. One of the fobs has a sticker which has both those numbers that you listed and also says "memory 2" at the bottom. The other FOB (I'm assuming is "Memory 1") does not have a sticker at all - previous owner wore it off, so I don't know. Is it possible the receiver in the car located near the firewall behind the steering column is bad?

Update, I was able to get one working after reprogramming, but not both.
