Just installed Sirius S50

A couple of days ago, I finally got my hands on a Sirius S50 rceiver at BB, one of the few available in Northern NJ... I had to drop my TL to the dealer anyway so they could replace my driver mirror (hmmm... little accident...) and while I was waiting, there was another customer who mentioned that he just took his MDX to have the S50 instelled by the dealership! I thought to myself, why not, while I am at it, so I had them install the receiver!

I live in Montreal, Canada, so my 05 TL doesn't come with XM. Even if it did, I had a Sirius receiver in my previous Audi A4 and loved it. I looked at some of the installs in the threads here and as much as they looked good, I have to admit that this set up looks unbelievable!

I will take pictures and post them ASAP so you can see.

And best of all, the reception is excellent! The antenna is mounted on the trunk and the entore drive from NJ to MTL, I didn't experience any dead spots!

Long live Raw Dog (Jim Breuer Unleashed) and Howard Stern!

I was wondering when someone would try this out in their TL....
hURRY and post the pics!!!!!

Here is another option I was thinking about if the S50 got too involved (install wise)

Sirius SV1

About the size of a radar detector... Anyone think it might fit in that lower pocket in the dash (the one with the 12V outlet)??? And, this has a FM modulator built-in, so I was hoping the install might be a little cleaner (no 'dock' like the S50)... Just need to run the antenna to the rear deck and tap into the fuse box for 12V power.

the SV1 fits in the upper center dash compartment, that is where mine is, the lower one is not wide enough due to the power outlet in there. The display is blue so it matches the radio knobs and gauges nicely. I just used the supplied velcro to attatch it and drilled a hole in the inside of the compartment to run the wires through. The only down side is that you cant see the buttons so it is almost required that you use the remote.

JBTL - Can you close the upper compartment door with the SV1 in place?
Where did you mount the antenna? That's my biggest worry (asthetically, anyway). I don't want to mount it to the exterior of the car, so I was thinking about either routing the wires to the middle of the windshield or just behind the rear seatbacks on the back deck (either behind or in front of the sub).
Do you have any pics that you might be able to post?

Thanks!

The SVI fits easily in the compartment, plenty of room for the door to close. The antenna is on the rear deck just like you were planning. I put it right where the rear window meats the rear deck, behind the sub. I have tinted windows so you cant see it at all. I dont have any pics of it at this time but maybe Ill take some tonight, check back.
