Just got my Navi replaced...
I suppose everything is all fine and dandy. At first I freaked after I got the car back from the dealer because the radio wouldn't work. I suppose in my confused daze I didn't realize the radio code just needed to be re-entered. Other than that, no other problems; no new creaks, cracks, nor damage during the replacement. Plus, my new Navi screen was fingerprint-less
I had experienced the temperature flatlining for the 4th time in 6 months, and I was fed up with fiddling with fuses. So I complained to my dealer for the second time, Gold Coast Acura in Ventura (closest dealer to Santa Barbara), and they told me they had heard of this problem before (from me, and from other worried owners). They had already replaced several other cars since my first complaint (yes, I wouldn't be a guinnea pig!), and that I would also get a complementary oil service for my troubles from having to deal with the issue after complaining about it months before.
Apparently, however, the Navi unit is hard to get because it is both expensive and rare, and it isn't even listed in the parts dept(?) The service manager told me the only way to get one is via the tech line or some such service Acura apparently has.
In any case, this is just an FYI for people who have had this problem before and are trying to figure out how to keep their batteries from dying...

Glad to hear they fixed it for ya...that's an expensive replacement.
Did you keep the old one? I'll take it off your hands... I built a computer in the glovebox and have a touchscreen in the oem screen location...I'd like to get my hands on a navi unit for parts.

Nope, I didn't even think to ask. They probably would have not wanted to do it anyways; I'm sure the old Navi would be used for spare parts for re-furbished Navi replacements like mine
at work right now, not much time to post description....search my screen name and "carPC" for details.
not a fan of XM, so I just used that for my audio input, though if you wanted both, it could be done easily with a switch or relay.
