Ok guys, I have my dunce cap on because I just can't make up my flipping mind.

Currently, the only upgrades that I have are this.

Infinity 3032cf center channel
Infinity 1031t tweeters
JL Audio Cleansweep CL441dsp
Alpine MRP-500 amp
JL Audio 12w6v2

Im just not satisfied. My boy just gave me a JL Audio Slash 1000.1 so I need to take advantage of his good charity. Coincidentally, my stock amp is on its way out.

So this is my plan.

JL Audio Slash 1000.1
Hertz Mille ML3000

Hertz MLK 165 comps in the front.
Hertz HCX 165 Coaxials in the rear
JL Audio HD600/4

Any inputs or changes I should make. The trunk will prob be the first thing I do in this little project of mine.

I would

Keep the sub. The w6 is better than the ml3000. Just put it in the right box.

Mlk's are cool, not 849 cool, but cool nonetheless. I would ditch the rears as they aren't needed and put that money into another pair of comps or sound deadening. With the money you are looking to spend, assuming you were gonna pay retail for the mlk's and hcx's, I would be looking into dynaudio or 2 pairs of less expensive components.

What lead you to the mlk's?

Oh yeah, i'd also ditch the cleansweep for something like the ms8

You are gonna need to invest in some electrical to run that 1000/1 at full tilt for long. It is a power hog. At a minimum, do your big-3 with some zero or 2 guage. You might need a power source in the rear if you want to slam it all of the time.

Don't do coax in the rear - the tweets will jack up your stage. If you like rear, go midbass only from 60/100 up to about 2500-2800 hz. I do like some rear, and I generally like 40% of front midbass power to some rear midbass. Don't spend too much $ here.

I like the MLK. If you can get them under retail (or used), then I think that they are a nice set.

The cleansweep is not necessary in our car. The front speaker signal from the HU is full range and very flat. I would go 3sixty or bitone.1 instead for a signal processor.

I think that you can do better than HD 600/4 too, unless you really need it to be small. It is a very nice amp, but there are plenty better for not too much more, or not any more.

Geez guys!!! Now I definitely don't know which direction I want to go in. I'm already undecisive. So it would be a better idea to stick with my w6? If thats the case I would like to get another amp for it. Maybe 500.1? any suggestions?

Also to comment on the interior speakers. I decided upon the mlk because they got terrific reviews and caraudiomag.com named it their number one comp. I obv won't be paying retail for it or anywhere near that. But now Im second guessing myself, because if I dont push more power to a sub, then I def don't want to push more power into speakers so that gets rid of the 600/4 and the MLK.

I toyed around with the idea of getting the HD900/5 but I don't want to be restricted in terms of upgrading so I def want to do a 2 amp setup.

With that being said, can you guys recommend me an amp for the w6 and a good front comp set (and amp) to compliment the w6?
I think maybe I want to keep it around 75-100w per channel so a good quality amp and comp set.

My budget is around $300 for comps. $300 for multi channel amp. $300 for mono amp. No haha that doesn't make it a $900 budget because I dont plan on doing all of this at once.
I am comfortable buying online, including ebay and buying used.

PS the cleansweep was taken out yesterday. I bought it just to experiment to see how flat our signals were before and after. Not enough of a difference. Will be posting it up in the Black Market soon.

You should probably understand that we are incredibly picky, especially on the high end stuff. Everything in your original list is very nice and you would have a better sounding car than 99.99% of the people out there. I would do it a bit different, so would Eggy, but what you had is more than fine. Again, we like what we like and are picky.

If you can get MLK for $300, then do it. Same with that sub and comp amp. This will be a tall order, though.

There are tons of Hertz fakes on the internet, so make sure that you buy from a trustworthy source.

Let us know if you want some advice on some stuff in your budget.

Also, most Magazine picks and SQ competition winners are the people who advertise/sponsor the most. This is true in almost any industry. While most entities won't support a turd, they sure as heck will lean a certian way. When I was in IT, we asked what we needed to do to get a high-end award (I mean super high-end award) where we would be attractive to get Government business for millions of dollars - the answer was to "buy advertising with them." ...so take all of that stuff with a grain of salt.

The budget I posted is the comfortable stage. I don't mind paying more for something that will be worth it. Through various connections I do have the ability to get great deals and realize that every item has a replica/ fake on the Internet and use extreme caution. I started this thread pretty much having no idea what I want. I really just want great sound and when even the most naive people get in my car, they need to notice that there is better sound. Any audiophiles will say it better but I would like the average person to notice as well. The stock system is not great and could have been better IMO. I'm also torn between the money because I am a frugal person.

I was able to get my w6 for 125 dollars from an authorized dealer so that might give you an idea as to the prices I'm dealing with. I will never spend more than 500 on a set of anything.
