ISimple Update from Best Buy

installed the unit last night myself. This unit came from BB and was the Isimple

i've noticed some people saying that the HFL doesn't mute when making or receiving calls. Only on the 07-08 models, but mine is an 05 navi and it does indeed mute when the HFL is on and when i disconnect the HFL it goes back to IPOD mode. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't pause the song playing while you get a call. Just get in the habit of turning the radio off when getting calls. This also works with the 1st and 2nd gen ipod touch and Iphone. You do need the optional 5V cable if you want to charge either one. About 25 bucks.

i'm not sure if something went wrong or good, but when i make a call by pushing the HFL button on the steering wheel, the ipod will pause and will resume from the same exact point as it was when i pushed the HFL . Now this is ONLY when i make a call. I have not yet tested any incoming phone calls, i'm guessing PETERUBERS and MMADE22 are right about having to turn down the radio when someone is calling you. But can either of you chime in and tell us if your radio does indeed pause when in IPOD mode when you make a call using the HFL

Does your car have Navigation? Will the unit support text? Are you going through XM or CDC? Is there a separate AUX in so you can hook up DOM's unit? Thanks Sorry for the 21 Questions

Navigation will support text...I think the non nav does too.

The unit has 2 aux inputs for whatever other audio unit you want to hook up too.

The unit needs to plug into the back of the radio and not in the trunk. The unit also allows you to still use XM.

Are you using an iPhone or an iPod?

If you have an iPhone, it will (obviously) pause when playing music and you receive a call. If it's an iPod, then it shouldn't pause based on what people are reporting (haven't tested it myself since I just use an iPhone).

That's a good reason to upgrade to an Iphone! (Who cares if there is a $25 fix!) (I am just trying to justify the $30/month extra an Iphone would cost me lol)

EVO --

My Pxamg does not pause with outgoing or incoming phone calls .. i don't have to lower the volume ever when an incoming call comes in .. the BT/HFL automatically does with it does as if i was listening CD or FM/XM audio -- it switches over to the BT at the same volume level i was listening to the previous audio source at.

If yours truly pauses when you make outgoing phone calls -- congrats! I'll have to try this today and see if I can replicate this.

EVO -- mine does not pause when i make an outgoing call -- tried it just now.

Hmmm... my firmware is the x.26 that i had from day 1 .. i'm tempted to upgrade now. However, it's not yet worth it to do so unless I have pause on incoming calls as well .. i receive more calls (10:1) than I place outgoing calls.

Congrats though, nice job on the install

You would have to use the mini-stereo output on the Zune to input the analog signal into the PXAMG peripheral unit -- and it would only transport analog data to the headunit, it will not give you text, full control of the Zune (sort, shuffle, text display, etc)

Time to get an ipod!

I'd like to add that this unit sounds 100 times better than the PA11 USA Spec unit. I love it!

For the iphone users, do you leave your phone inside your armrest box while driving or can you close the armrest with the plug hanging out? i want to be able to have my ipod set on my cup holder cover while driving so i can pick up phone calls when needed.

It will charge the I-phone or I-touch if you buy a 25 dollar 5 volt cable. It replaces the one that comes with the i simple unit. Looks the same but it has the 5 volts coming in....

That can't happen unless you drill a slight hole. You could do what I did and install it in the top compartment where the radio is...Open the door, pull the cable out, attach it to the mount and go....

Wouldn't you just use the HFL when the iphone rings? Why would you ever need to pick it up, unless you want to manually control the iphones ipod controls, or text or browse the web? (the last two of which are really dangerous while driving, espically on the iphone when you HAVE to look where you are clicking...)

Just a thought, I'm probably missing something.

This will be my first upgrade soon though, once it warms up a little, -3 for a high isn't gonna cut it.

i believe on the '06-UP has the notch where you can run the cable through. Mine is an 05 and it doesn't have the notch so just find room to run the cable and shut it, might pinch the cable a little but it's not gonna cut it. I place my phone on the cup holder cover.

Are you running the new cable that goes to the back of the car like playa4real?

Can anyone else confirm that updating to the latest firmware does in fact pause the ipod? I see no mention of them changing this and I thought it would only pause if you upgrade to the new harness.

Nevermind just saw this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...4869&highlight=

The video clearly shows it does not pause, I got my hopes up for a second that a simple firmware update would fix this lol

Just an fyi incase anyone is trying to get into one of the isimples. Circuit City sells these units and now with them going out of business (effective today) and liquidators comming in you can probobly get ahold of one a better price. I actualy work in a circuit city just not for circuit city (and no I am not loosing my job, just being relocated). I will keep my eye out to see what they reduce the price to as soon as the liquidators get in to sell off everything and post it for everyone. I think they are selling them regular price for $149, I would love to get into one and if I can get it for say 30% or 40% off that would be great.

Yeah I got mine from Circuit city for $115 but that was because my friend works there. Now with them going out of business anyone should be able to get it for that price or maybe less!

Regular price is $149 and the word is that the liquidation sale will not start until Tuesday the 20th and that everything in the store will start at 10% off with the exception of CD's and home furnishing which will be 20% and then cables for 30%, If they have told me correctly. We will just have to see what happens if they were to drop any lower. What is sad is that I work in a circuit city and they still won't give me a discount because I am not an employee, yet the company I work for gives them a hefty discount on the service we offer????????

I guess I also need direction on this unit, I have a 2008 TL type S. and if I have read correctly I need the isim71 unit and then the new harness that is being produces by peripheral to be out 1st quarter 09 and that at time it will plug up in the trunk and I will have to run the wire up to the console. Am I correct or is there a different unit I need??? would someone please verify, most the posts I have read is for people that have previous to 07' TL's.

Thanks in advance for the help

I haven't purchased yet but they cannot do employee discounts effective today due to the liquidation that started today, but the guy in car stereo told me he would give me a 30% mark down on it since he feels it falls under the category that everything else that is marked dow 30%, that would bring it to $105, I don't think I can find for any less than that. I will probobly pick it up on Monday when I go back to work. I got them to set it back for me so it wouldn't get gone. And thanks for the thread and reply to my questions Anthracite

Ok guys for whoever is still reading this thread I checked here at Circuit City and with the liquidation you can get the isim71 for 30% off if they have any left my store only had 1 to start with. Regular price is $149 so with 30% off you can pick it up for $105, I have not found it for any less elsewhere. If you have a circuit city in your area and want one of these you may want to grab it while possible for this price. I will everyone up to date should the price drop even lower. I have mine on hold to see if it drops anymore in the next week or so.

Thanks biglanky, I was waiting for it to drop in price. My Circuit City didn't advertise any special discounts for it, but when I asked the cashier to do a price check, she told me it was $105. I also picked one up tonight.

Now its time to upgrade from the PIE X3.

I think if pausing was a simple firmware issue - it definitely would have already been released to the peripheral public by now.

I think people have to realize that XM is always receiving a signal and inputing this signal to the headunit (in the stock format) and since the peripheral is simple electronically switching the input from XM to IPOD, it does not "detect" a special signal from HFL to initiate a pause ... The CD player has this signal to pause b/c it's integrated into the circuitry of the headunit .. but there is no way to really capture this from the headunit when a HFL call comes in .. at least no way to capture it simply from the socket you insert the Y-harness (iSimple) into...

Don't think a pause is in our future... but i'm sure 99% of us will be JUST fine without it.
