iSimple question

I installed the iSimple with no problems and I love it, but I have one question. If I turn my radio off via the power button before I turn my car off, when I start it back up it takes a 3- 4 minutes before the XM or Ipod will work. When I hit the XM button, nothing happens. FM, AM and CD all work fine. Is this normal?

It sounds like the iSimple unit is taking a few minutes to power up after you turn the radio on. I have never noticed this because I usually just turn down my radio rather than turn it off.

I'll try turning it off and see what happens.

you'll get better reliability by leaving the radio on before turning the car off. For whatever reason, it takes a while to "boot" so to speak when you turn the car off after you've powered down the radio.

I get the same thing sometimes. I never turn my radio off, i'll just turn the volume down.

Wasn't there a firmware update that supposedly fixed this? I think it was .26. Which firmware revision are you running?

I'm running .36, which is what it came with. When I tried to upgrade, it said I already had the latest firmware.

I just wanted to make sure it was not doing something that will cause my stereo to get fried.

There are still a few issues with the firmware. I would bring up your issue in the main iSimple thread. A representative of Peripheral checks that thread regularly and does respond to questions and comments.

Ok I just tried this. With the iPhone still connected, I turned off the radio, then shut off the car and pulled the key. I waited 30 seconds or so, then restarted the car and turned the radio back on. The input was still on iPod mode and the song I was playing instantly picked up right where it left off.

I am also running .36 firmware. Not sure what you tell you.

I have the same issue with my Zune set-up. I just hit the mode button on my steering wheel and all is good from there.
