Ipod Text Display Selection

Ipod Text Display Selection
I've recently installed the NEO ipod adapter and it plays great. I have the 06 Canadian TL with Navi and have full text display. Here's my question. The smaller upper display always shows the song title. Is it possible to change this to display the song artist? I know it displays on the navi screen but I don't have the navi on by default so I'd like the upper display to show the artist. I'm also attempting to discover some of the undocumented ipod controls.
-press and hold head unit #2 preset will activate/deactivate random selection.
-press #3 head unit preset will jump forward 10 songs.
-seek buttons switch between playlists.
-scan button scans songs.
Any others? I know that functions depend on which ipod adapter is installed but there may be some commonality between the units.

Ok, the thumbnail was working but let's try this again.
Here is the model of NEO that I purchased:

The head unit on my TL is a model 1TB3 which is indicated on the cassette door. If you have this head unit, it is text capable.

No I don't think it will work but maybe you could look for a cable that is 3.5mm on one end and has the other conections on the other. I've seen them out there before but not sure what the sound quality would be.

Ladiesman: if your head unit is the same model number, it should work but I can't guarantee this. The NEO kit provides two short head unit cables. One is a straight through cable and the other is a Y cable. I used the straight through cable as there was nothing connected to the head unit port. From the end of the head unit cable, a long cable is run to the NEO unit which you can mount in the bottom of the console or under the driver seat. Another long cable is run from the NEO unit to the ipod itself. My ipod is located in the bottom of the console and I never access it.
There is an auxilary jack for any kind of audio output device which puts out a left and right channel output. From the dealer: "The PODHONR3V215 now features additional auxiliary inputs which allow users to connect another audio device, in addition to the iPod. Any device connected through the auxiliary inputs will also be played on the factory radio in CD Quality Sound, just like the iPod." Thus any mp3 player can connect.
Once the NEO unit is connected, by pressing the mode button on the steering wheel, you can scroll through the various inputs until you get to XM. The NEO unit simulates XM. Without the NEO unit connected, you will not see the XM option.
Hope this helps you out.

thanks for the info fred, do you have any pictures of where the ipod wire is mounted? do you think it can be fed through to the armrest console..and do you think futureshop or bestbuy will be able to do this installation? thanks a million

When I did the installation, I followed the directions in one of the other posts where you take off the console drivers side panel. You then run the cable inside the console and by cutting a small corner of the cover located in the bottom of the console, you can run the wire into the console. You can leave the NEO unit in the bottom of the console. You can then leave the ipod there as well or the cable is plenty long to locate the ipod outside the console if you want. Any good card audio shop can do the installation. I would think Furture Shop or Best Buy could also do this install as it is fairly simple.

Hey Fred99x,
I'm in the exact same boat as you - I have an 06 Canadian TL with Navi.
I don't have an integration kit yet, and the fact that you've installed it into the same car is a real plus for me.
How hard was the install? What selection do you press to listen to the iPod? (IE CD plays CD's, AM plays AM radio, etc)

Installation was a piece of cake. I did remove the console side panel which I think is a must. The hardest part is removing the silver console trim. You have to be careful as the clips are stuborn trying to get off. See this post for more info.
