Sort of like asking "what's the average window size"?

They all come in diff sizes for diff reasons. I have an ipod in my car with 3500 songs, and another hooked up to my home stereo with about 50 of my fav albums. Runners sometimes choose whe iPod Shuffle which holds a hundred songs or so.

Ask yourself: "what do you have on CD, what will you download, how often will you sync to your computer and how ofter are you away from that computer". Lifestyle and time availability play large roles.

The ipod in my car is a 60Gb Video in black. Overkill for many, but I am not gonna outgrow it anytime soon.

I have about 300GB of music and 200Gb of audiobooks on my computers. 20Gb iPod works for me.
This question is more about usage. If you run, commute on mass transit or otherwise mostly keep your player in the pocket, than get 2 or 4 GB Nano. For in car duty 30 or 60GB models make more sense.

I just bought the 60GB iPod video. I had an older 30GB unit, but wanted the color screen and video. Even though I have about 15GB of music, I figured that I would be loading a lot of videos into it. If you don't mind the physical size and the price tag, I say go for the 60GB.

Me concur. I just picked up a 60GB video iPod, but I may just leave my old 3G ipod (30GB) in the car all the time and save myself the hassle of pulling it out of the glove box.

Katy, If you're an impatient music listener like me, get a big one so you can have a lot of choices. If you don't mind running through a playlist, the new nano units are great.

I drive a lot, so I use audiobooks to pass the time. I bought the iPod specifically for that reason. As for connecting it to your car, the Acura Music link is supposed to perform well, but it has some shortcomings as you've probably already read. I've been using the Harmon Kardon Drive + Play and I love it!
