I can't personally say it was a rip since I got the dealer to throw it in for free (installed). If I had paid that much for it, then YES, it would be a ripoff. The sound quality is pretty good, but it's only really good for playing random songs. The control interface software that came with it is garbage.
Technically, I understand why it can't display text and have more controls. It's basically just using the external changer input/output. However, this wouldn't have been a problem if they had just had MP3 support for the internal 6disc change or made the stereo compatible w/ Ipods to begin with. Hopefully, they can do a firmware upgrade that can at least read text and have some more ipod controls.
