Talking Ipod/iPhone Solution for 07-08 owners

Not sure if anything has been posted on this yet...

I got tired of waiting for an Ipod/Iphone solution that would show text in the Navi and not break XM or Traffic updates, so I picked up a LiquidAUX system from Kensington the other day on sale at Amazon (~$40 shipped).

The system connects inside the arm rest (Power + Aux) and works via remote control. The remote is black with a brushed metal look to it and looks perfectly at home in the TL-S. It is designed to be attached to the steering wheel, but I have it mounted on the parking break - which is right where my hand sits while driving anyhow. The remote can be removed from the case and mounted elsewhere or nowhere.

Here's the product page if anyone is interested, so far I'm happy with the decision:

Here are couple of pictures of the unit in the car:

(Sorry for the low quality pictures, the garage was a bit dark)

I think someone has a solution for ipod integration where you can view and control from the touch screen. At the same time, you can also switch back with xm radio

If I've read those threads correctly, which is difficult because they're many many pages long, all of the options still have major drawbacks for the 07 TL-S w/Navi and Traffic. Either you give up text, or you give up XM, or you give up traffic, etc...

I plan on keeping this car for a good while, so I am waiting on a fully functional solution to arrive, until then the LiquidAUX works well enough and looks much better than I was expecting.

I just thought I'd post a few pictures in case anyone else was in the "waiting for a better option" boat and still wanted to listen to their button-less iPhone or iPod without driving into a wall in the meantime.

So it shows the text on the screen?

In actuality who pays and uses the NavTraffic? If I had an 07+ I would sacrifice the navtraffic and get ipod interface.

I heard the Dice has ability to show text on screen.

No text on the screen. Basically it's just a charger for the Ipod/Iphone and a remote control that lets you Skip Forward, Skip Back, Play/Pause and Shuffle. The unit just matches the car's interior well and keeps my hands and eyes off the phone screen.

It's just a workable place holder until one of the Ipod solution company figures out how to get the text to display without sacrificing XM or XM Traffic and without noticeable lag issues and bugs in the 07 TLS. It sounds like they're close, but the last time I checked through the threads there were still a few deal-breaker issues.

As for the XM Traffic, it's not great but occasionally it is helpful in Atlanta. I prepaid for the year ($77 for 12 months + NavTraffic Cost), so I may as well use it.
