Ipod Inegration
Ipod Inegration
I have recently purchased ’04 TL, this car is amazing I love everything about it. From the way it sticks to the road to the voice activated handsfreelink and it’s heathed leather seats. I have been obsessing about this car for quite some time, and was finally able to get rid of my gas hungry ’01 Pathfinder.
However I was slightly disappointed to find out that Acura’s ipod integration kit is only compatible with ’06 and newer models. I have done some research and found that some people were able to talk their dealers into installing it even on much older models. Unfortunately I didn’t get anywhere with my local dealership, it sounded like they think that in theory it would work, but nobody wants to take reasonability if they try to install it and something does go wrong.
I found a few alternative solutions online, but most of them don’t offer a full integration that includes steering wheel controls and/or text information displayed right on the car’s radio screen (I don’t have navigation system).
So I was just wondering if anyone was able to find a way to fully integrate their ipod on a 04/05 TL models.
Thank you,
Andrew

Hey Andrew welcome to the board. There are several alternative solutions to the musiclink adapter through acura.
This thread will probably be closed soon because it has been mentioned sooo many times, but since this is your first post I thought I would give you a little bit of a hand.
Acura sells the music link. Now our stereos from 04-06 are identicle, so there is no reason why the music link wont work in your car. However this product really sucks.
Someone posted before you about the Harmon Kardon Drive + Play 2

anyways There is also a product through Dice Electronics and Neo that are still in the development stage for text on your display, but they do work through the car stereo controls, so that might be the best route to go when it actualy works for our cars
There is also the USA SPEC PA11-HON2Y that does the same that the dice and neo units do except for the text, although there are skipping issues currently
It seems like you did search a little, but 3g has been around for quite a while (I own an 04) and its amazing how much information you can find if you just search a little.
Goodluck and enjoy your car!
