Talking Ipod, external cd changer

I am a new owner of an 04'. It was too damn good of a deal to pass up.

I love the car, but am not pleased with the audio. Yeah, like I am ever going to change to DVD audio. I think it is dead before it gets going.

I want to hook up my Alpine CD/MP3 disk changer and I am looking for some sort of adapter cable that will allow the head unit to communicate with it direct-connect. I know that there is something out there, but no one I know or even at the audio shops knows how to obtain the piece.

Secondly, Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket direct-connect IPOD adapter kit. The dealership said to get an aftermarket, it will do the same thing much cheaper.

Thanks.

Dude its his first post so he probably doesn't know better

Madmediaman search for keywords "blitzsafe" or "pie x3" to get some good reviews on these products. It should cost around $130 to get the adapter and have it installed if you go that route.

As mentioned above, there are aftermarket products to add additional audio inputs, including an iPod connection.

One thing to consider as an alternative though - especially since you mentioned the Alpine MP3 disc player...

You can make your own DVD-A mixes which can contain 100s of songs each. And since you can load up to 6 of them, you can get a pretty good equivalent to an MP3 player. At least in terms of the number of songs you have available.

You don't get the organizational aspect you would have using an iPod. And trust me, that's something I miss. But all in all, it's a nice thing to have.

I have never heard of this. What is a DVD-A mix. I stuck in my dvds which contained tons of mp3s and it would not recognize the DVD.

Please help.

Dvd-a

I meant to say that I know what this is, but I do not know how to produce them. I am doing some research, but curious if this is a typical format burned by Nero or Roxio.

Would it be like burning an audio CD, only you burn to a DVD and it converts the mp3s to Wave files?

Thanks.

DVD-Audio discs are similar to video DVDs, in that they have a particular set of files. They are not simply data discs with a bunch of song files.

In order to create your own DVD-A discs you can use one of two programs. The first is a free program created by Adobeman (who's a member here). The program is called Adobeman’s DVDA GUI. Two nice things about that program. First, it's free. Second, it will accept MP3 files and then convert them to the proper format. The major downside is that it can not create 5.1 multichannel DVD-A discs.

So if you want to use another of Adobeman's programs - The Adobinizer - to convert your music to 5.1 tracks, you will need to create the DVD-A discs with another program.

That program is called Cirlinca DVD Audio Solo. It will create DVD-A discs using the 5.1 tracks you create in the Adobinizer. It is free to try (5 times), but then costs $34.95.

Note that although DVD Audio Solo has the ability to burn the discs, I found that it was better to have it create an .iso image which you can then burn to a disc (DVD R- discs work best) using another program such as Nero.

Anyway, there are several threads about these programs. Good luck
