No Caller ID

My iPhone paired with no problems on my '04, but when a call comes in the caller ID does not come up on the car's display. Everything else works great.

the iPhone doesn't support any sort of data by bluetooth protocols.

Could that be fixed by SW update you think? Maybe they'll fix that and the lack of multi recipient and group texts... maybe even add in a T9 keypad interface for those of us that are more comfortable and quicker with that :-)

Tethering probably won't happen from Apple.

Is the T9 comment a joke? I rather enjoy having a wide-screen keyboard to type on. The T9 thing reminds me of my nokia's from 7 years ago.

They could, but since there isn't a rule allowing it in the iPhone's data plan I doubt they'll add it.

Maybe the screen becomes active when the HFL dials or answers through it? Finally, it is not transferring numbers to the HFL display when incoming calls come in.
I just had my dealer replace the HFL system in my 04 TL that fell into the VIN range of the Service Bulletin.

On (2) 35 minute drives since the install, my iPhone has not disconnected from the HFL like it used to.

I still have to test further, but it looks good.

Pros:
1) Pairing was a breeze
2) Battery, reception, and caller id appears on the MID
3) Sound quality is better or as good as my previous Sony Ericsson S710a.

Cons:
1) Touchscreen is harder to navigate with while driving . With most phones, you get to the point where you can feel your way around without looking. Hard to do on the iPhone's touchscreen.
2) A few times on an incoming call the sound doesn't connect successfully. The sound goes to the phone rather than HFL. I might attribute this to having a hacked iPhone.

Final verdict: Definitely worth it since the price drop. Check out http://www.modmyiphone.com if you end up getting one.

On the navigation screen go to Info --> Phonebook. Select the option to Import Phonebook. It should then pull all the contacts and numbers off your phone.

You can now search them by going to Info --> Phonebook --> Search. If you leave it empty it will return all entries.

The 1-800-GOOG411 is nice but if you have an iPhone you can type it into Google Maps and it will do the same thing.
I spent about 30 minutes looking for this Info --> Phonebook option on the navigation screen but I don't know where to find it.
I push the Info button on the navi screen and I don't get a phonebook option. I get 3 options (1. don't remember, 2. Calendar, 3. Calculator) Or am i doing something wrong?
The only thing I've done to my navi is get rid of the nag button and put up a new startup screen.

The phonebook import is only on 2007 and Up model years.

I def agree with all of the things datmrman listed but when i pick up my iphone it goes thru the handset then 15-20 seconds into the call transfers by itself to HFL. If i pick up with HFL within 15-20 seconds it transfers to the handset. I really dont get this at all and I have tested this out and made sure i wasn't accidently touching the phone and stuff. I really wish this would work because the touchscreen makes it impossible to dial while driving. With my BB Pearl I could text and call without looking at the phone, the iphone makes this impossible (to me)

When I place the call on the iPhone while it's paired to HFL on my TL-S 07, it goes to HFL, but I don't hear anything. When I press call and say 'transfer' HFL says, there is no call in progress. Why? I can only transfer it after the call is accepted by the other party. Is there a work-around, b/c everyone I call can hear me say 'trasnfer'. pretty stupid.

Unfortunately, you have to wait for the call to connect before you can transfer the call from your cell to the HFL. If you don't want people to hear what you're doing, you can execute mute, transfer, and then unmute.

Have you tried rebooting the phone?

I've experienced your first issue a few times while running firmware 1.0.2. Power cycling the phone and the car seems to fix it sometimes. I'm running firmware 1.1.1 now and have yet to experience it. (Knock on wood.)

Just last night I did a system clear on the hfl, and I still have the same issue, I checked www.handsfreelink.com and they list the caller id as compatible. Can you guys see the phone number or does it just say Incoming Call???

Mine shows the number.

'06 TL with paired iPhone running 1.1.2 firmware.

Seeing that you have an '04, if the HFL site is showing that it is compatible and your car is not, its a good reason to bring it to the dealer and upgrade your HFL. Theres a large thread on it. I think the thread is also linked in the FAQ.

3G iPhone problem with HFL 05 TL w/o nav

Hey you might be able to help me out, the problem is that the phone is paired and I can make calls from the from the phone list from the car but when I try to use the iphone's contacts to make a call it won't link up. You know how you can first find the contact that you want to call on your phone call them and then hit the talk button on the steering wheel and then say "transfer", this worked with my old phone (Motorola Razor) but doesn't seem to work with the 3G iPhone. Is there something that I have to turn on or off?
