iPhone stays in discovery mode ???

I searched. . . .

I paired my iphone with the car with no problems. It shows signal strength, battery, and incoming numbers.

My question is when I'm away from the car the Bluetooth option from the Settings menu shows:

"ON"

"Devices" and the little circular gif cycling around

"HandsFreeLink TM Paired"

Then a message that says " Now Discoverable "

This leads me to believe that the phone is still in "Discovery Mode" and can be picked up by any bluetooth device. Is this true? I've asked Apple about it and got conflicting answers.
Once source said the phone does not automatically disconnect. The other says it does.

Is this normal. Can someone else chime in and let me know if their bluetooth settings are the same as mine when you're away from the car?

Thanks.

This is normal for an iPhone and only devices in the list can pair with your phone. Other than draining more battery, leaving bluetooth on will not cause any problems.
