iPhone Acuralink Compatability

Has anyone Data Linked (tethered) a iPhone 3GS (AT&T) to the Acuralink diagnostic link. I have a 08 TL Type-S and I haven't been able to do so.

You have two options:
-pay for tethering
-Jailbreak your iPhone

Otherwise Acuralink won't work AFAIK.

I called AT&T today and paid for "Phone Data Connection Package" (tethering) I was able to tether my laptop to my phone. The laptop reconized my iPhone. I then went to the car and attempted to tether my iPhone to Acuralink with no luck. I'm afraid its gonna take more than paying for tethering. I'm hoping someone on this forum can help.

I'm on Verizon and have a Motorola Droid. Everything works great except it can't connect to AcuraLink. I'm not sure about the tethering either. Like the above post, I think there is sometime more to it.

Acuralink/SUCCESS!

I have a BB 9700/TMo
Last week I took advantage of the RIM offer, to upgrade my OS to 6.0.0.448
As soon as I upgraded, the Acuralink, hooked up, quickly
Don't believe the web-site BS.
It's the upgraded software, that permits the connection
For 2 years I called Acura CS, & spoke with numerous service techs
They're all clueless

That list only indicates which devices support HandsFreeLink, not the same as AcuraLink. I think whether your phone works for data is going to depend on whether your phone will do data tethering over Bluetooth.

I also could have sworn I read somewhere (possibly the tech manual) that only some cellular networks are compatible with AcuraLink, but my memory is notoriously unreliable, so...

Only phones which support DFU via Bluetooth are compatible for AcuraLink. The iPhone does not support this protocol, thus it doesn't work.

Apparently it is a lame feature anyways, so I don't care anymore.

Incorrect... The link posted shows Data Connectivity once you choose your phone... As an example, an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.0, neither Data Connectivity nor Bluetooth Audio is supported. This may have been the initial release of the iPhone iOS 4.0 software, but Bluetooth Audio now works with the iPhone. Can't say the same about AcuraLink or Data Connectivity as the website mentions.

According to MyAcura, the 9700/BB/TMo, does NOT link, or, play BT audio;NOT; does both, if you have the upgraded 6.0.0.448 OS!

It's really a very useless listing. I selected some random phone (Nokia E71x) (my phone isn't listed at all even though it's been available for more than six months) that shows it does support data connectivity, but does not support phone pairing. What use is listing data connectivity in this context if you can't pair the phone in the first place?

I was looking at the AcuraLink settings last night and found the whole thing confusing. It looks like it wants to establish a PPP connection back to homebase meaning it wants to use the cell phone as a modem, not just jacking into the available data connection like it's a tether. Maybe that's more backwards compatible? It just seems pretty ghetto to me...

If you're Jailbroken and want AcuraLink , look for iBluever.

Also, if you have Apple IOS5 or 5.1 and were previously using NoAccessorySplash to remove the "Accessory Connected" screen while either using BlueTooth Audio (HandsFreeLink) or the Dock Connector you will want to uninstall the old tweak, add this repo (http://beta.leimobile.com/repo/) and search for NoAccSplash.

Tested and working @ 01/08/2012

So the definitive answer is; THE iPHONE 4S does NOT connect with Acuralink? I can't get mine to work with either the easy setup or the manual setup. I thought it worked the first time I paired my phone with my 2011 Acura Tech.

Try going to this site: http://handsfreelink.com/?page=findaphone
Enter your information and click on "Search for Phones"
It will load a page showing your phone(s).
Then CLICK on the name of your phone in red.
A new page will load showing what features ARE compatible in GREEN and what features ARE NOT compatible in RED. The Data Connection is shown in RED for the iPhone 4S OS6

Incredible that Acura would ignore one of the most popular phones in the world.
