Intermittent Audio Problem (+poll)
Poll: Wondering how many people have had problems of no audio or other related electrical problems.
Since I purchased my 04TL 2 years ago, I started experiencing infrequent problems (monthly, if that, on average) where the Radio, HFL & Nav would not have any audio following a cold start. The problem would go away after shutting the car down, waiting a few seconds and starting it back up.
I reported the problem to my local service department, and they stated that they would not fix the problem if they could not see it first-hand. Since this problem did not happen frequently, let alone when the service department was open, I have only had one salesperson acknowledge the problem.
For better or worse, the problem (of no audio) has not only become more and more frequent, but now I have had 2 occassions of no audio for 3+ consecutive days. The Technicians at the service department think it is the handsfree malfunctioning, and while I have seen threads on that issue, I think is not my situation. The reason being, when the "no-audio" situation occurs, I cannot turn off the radio (pushing in the volume control) and the Handsfree works fine as does the Radio & Nav, just without any sound. (ie. I can initiate outgoing calls) They want me to bring the car back in to replace the handsfree unit. But after speaking with a Tech at Johnson Controls, they concurred that it was unlikely that a problem with the HFL would prevent me from turning off the radio.
To make matters worse - my TL also seems to have the known problem with the driver settings being lost, and I am not looking forward to the same resistance trying to get it fixed without proving it happens consistently. (which it does not)
Note: In the Acura Warrantly manual it states on page 30 under the "Audio Exchange Program" that if you report a problem with the radio, CD player etc, they will order replacement parts (not necessarily new btw.) and schedule an appointment to replace the faulty part/s generally inside a week. The 2 service departments refer to this as a guideline, and refused to abide by it. I wonder if I could expect warranty service after 5 or 6 years under the same premise.
