Instead of fixing the CD player
can I wire up a ipod connection to the stereo and just use it instead to listen to music of my iphone... would this work with the cd player not working? thanks guys!

If you are handy and can tap into a few wires behind the radio you can have a nearly free aux in. If you want to control your phone with the radio you will have to consider one of the many options like grom or isimple.

No, it does not utilize the CD player, at least iSimple doesn't.
Sure, the iSimple does get plug in to the whole radio/cd unit but it doesn't matter if your CD player can read discs or not.
Think of it this way:
One of your HID bulb went out in your headlight: does that stop you from putting in switchback LED turn signals? Absolutely not =)
My dad drives a TSX with a CD player that stopped working a few months ago.
I plan on ordering an iSimple so he can use his iPhone to listen to music.

ok so once the I simple is hooked up you hit ur cd/dvd button and that's how u get the isimple to start playing the music is it?? cause now when I hit the cd/dvd button it wont do anything like it comes up on the screen showing discs but none of them will play.. then I go back to radio it will play for a few mins then cut out, shut car off turn back on keep on radio will work for hours no problem!! Just wanted to know if I ordered it and hooked it up would it work that's all. are they pretty much plug and play?? thanks a lot!

Yeah, it just plugs into the back of the radio.
To get to it, you click on the XM button or use your "mode" button on the steering wheel.
Now that you mention your FM radio cuts out, I'm not sure.
Try going to XM and see if it cuts out.

i'm curious also
i'm a 2nd owner, and there looks to be an aftermarket ipod adaptor from my glovebox
a specialist demonstrated it once where i hit "mode" or "display", and behold my 6th gen nano's tunes played
eversince then, its stuck on CD4 and i can't skip to find where the nano should play out from.
