Instant sound upgrade with factory stereo
So I had the typical rear deck lid rattle that most experience with these cars. I had it fixed a while back but something else was rattling every once and a while back there (only with certain frequencies). I decided to Dynamat the underneath of the rear deck and it is SO much better. The bass is cleaner and the rear speakers actually sound halfway decent now.
I attached a picture for all to see. Notice how I sealed in the rear speakers so they are now enclosed and not prone to becoming distorted from the subwoofer frequencies coming through it. I think this is what was causing some of the rattle too. Might be something to try if you are trying to get better sound without changing out components.

I noticed an increase in sound (quality) when I completely deadned my trunk/doors.
I built an infinite baffle behind my seats, installed the sub (not hooked up yet) and deadned/sealed the doors and trunk. Factory 6.5's still installed an noticed an improvement in sound. Music was clearer, bass was punchier (as good as it could with stock sub) and the vocals were more pronounced.
I am finishing all my wiring this week, so I should have all the aftermarket components/sub playing and I can really enjoy the work that I put into this install.

this is prolonging the inevitable of actually upgrading the system. at least this is something that you would want in the long run anyway! may as well seal that sub hole too. But in reality there is no amount of deadener that can be applied that will make the OEM speakers perform any where close to a decent set of components.

I tried it with sub hole sealed and it pretty much killed the bass. I think it needs the trunk area to act as a box although it way too large of an area for the size of the sub. I've gotten the best sound from removing the liner all together.
