Installing Overhead DVD Player on 05 TL

Anyone have any suggestions or doubts about installing a Jensen Overhead DVD player in an 05 TL. I saw it at Circuit City and the technician said he could install it for about $100. It is black and my interior is tan. Anyone have an overhead DVD player or does anyone advise against it. Player is for my children on long trips. Any suggestions would be great.

where do you plan on installing it? I think it would definitly impair your view from the rearview mirrow

You can do it, but it's not the best idea .

Because there is a sunroof in the TL, the drop down screen would be set too far back to watch for those in the back seat.... They would have to look up and over in order to see the screen.... Not comfortable to watch at all.....
Nevermind the fact that with the screen flipped down, you won't be able to use your rearview mirror to see anything behind you.

It's your car, so do what you want, but I think most here will agree it's not a good idea at all. If you have to have screens for the kids, better to put them in the headrests or custom mount one between the front seats (over the rear vents). Obviously this will be more $$, but in the long run, you'd be better off.

Just my
Good luck!

try 2 flip downs behind each front seat....that will give u full visibility with ur rearview mirror and if placed right will not be in the way of the driver...passanger...or sunroof

Better yet, install the screens in the headrests. The flip down screen will definitely impede on your rear view and you will have to set it pretty far back because of the sun roof.

Headrest screens are a more expensive installation, but the cost on those screens has dropped significantly in the past few years. I'm sure you can work something out there. What's more, some of those units come with additional video inputs, allowing you to add a PlayStation or XBox under the passenger seats.

Good luck!
