Installing 3sixty.2

okay so found a deal off craigslist for a 3sixty.2 and decided to pick it up. My question is do i do the wiring after the stock amp or before?, search button says hacking after the stock amp gives out hissing noise and before with rca plugs dont? anyone has images of there install process? that would greatly help. Also what kind of tuning do you do? 3sixty.2 i bought came with no manual which i can DL off RF site. first time using a processor. help would greatly be appreciated. Also how many male rca ends would i need? i will be keeping center stock.

You want before the stock amp. The 3sixty.2 will accept the balanced inputs just fine. You really only need to run the front r/l to it and it'll split all the channels. I assuming you have aftermarket amps? (I have a 3sixty.2)

Tuning- There is a disc you need to play on your HU to set the levels and let the 3sixty.2 auto EQ out the factory curve. You should be able to find it on torrent, but I might still have it around somewhere. Tuning beyond that you can use something like room eq wizard and a PC or just do it by ear.

TY geekybiker for the reply, i have the cd. so then i would have to use male rca inputs correct? or just run the factory wires to the 3sixty?
Yes i will be using a aftermarket amp, planning on a system and have pretty much everything mids to sub only thing i will be not changing are the tweeters and the center speaker as i dont have navi.

Ground everything right and you won't have any noise... I took mine after the stock amp, all 6 channels, everything is golden.

It will fit perfectly under the passenger seat, although on my type S I did have to remove some useless bracket.

To tune you need Bluetooth, win xp, and the right resolution screen. I got an old junk notebook I have to hook up to external monitor to see all the controls. PITA.

Oh yeah, and everyone has their own opinions they will swear by. I'm just saying I've done it twice in 2 TLs, only noise I had is when I had my Gains (on amp... centered on the 360) turned ALL the way up which wasn't an issue b/c the volume on 1 after was like 25 before the upgrade. So therefore I lowered the gain, killed all audible noise completely.

Well you only need to run the rears if you want the HU fade to work. (I'd have to double check that it's not fading at the amp level though) The 3sixty.2 will take the Front and split it to all the channels you need. The fronts are full spectrum, so you can get everything from them, particularly if you get the low level wires before the factory amp. If you're running rears, I'd just set the fade on the 3sixty unless you find yourself adjusting it all the time.

I ran the amp output back to the stock door wiring. As long as you're not trying to push a ton of power you'll probably be fine. Mine is pre factory amp, to the 3sixty.2 in the trunk, then amps in trunk. Speakers I have the cross overs in the trunk with the rest of the gear so if I ever want to go active on crossovers I can do so. I'd plan on changing the tweets if I were you. If nothing else so you have a matched set with what you're throwing in the doors.

If you take after the amp you have the extra noise of the amp and you do have to EQ out factory correction and sum channels. Granted the 3sixty.2 is designed to do just that, but why do it the wrong way when the right way isn't any harder?

You can also program with a palm device with bluetooth. That's what I use as I can toss it in the center console and adjust on the road if I need to. They should be cheap as dirt on ebay if you don't have a laptop.

In any case, you have a plan for the amps, speakers, etc?

okay did more research, instead of soldering rca plugs to speaker wires. if i were to get the kicker 09ZISL speaker to rca. would i need to get 2 sets? the plug where the wires get screwed down has 2 pos and 2 neg or would i just run one left one right into it?

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but you can get away with one pair of RCA inputs into the 3sixty.2 All you need is the front r/l

There is a FR positive AND negative

1. FL +
2. FL -
3. FR +
4. FR -

...4 inputs into the Kicker unit. outputs into the 3sixty.2 and you're done.

All my mods are the closest thing to stock as can be done. If I play a DVD-A disk, I will get the full effect. The navi voice will go through my aftermarket and amp'd center channel. HFL will not be summed to the rears. Fade will work properly as noted above. Who's to say what's the right way when I believe even RF recommends after the factory amp.

I just wanted to give the OP the flipside of the coin. If nothing else he won't wonder wtf happened after it's all done.

the correct way would be pre amp. why on earth would you want to work with a noisy and cut signal?
