I've had a 01 TL for the last two years and and its great, probally the most reliable car I've ever had. But I've been eyeing a 3rd gen for about a year now and it looks like I'll have one in about a week. Found out today that I am approved for financing on a 04 DMM non-navi TL with 40k miles. I get to trade in my 01 and get the remaining 7k that I owe on it paid off and only raise my payment $15 bucks a month. The guy pretty much jumped through hoops since Im gonna be paying cash for an 04 Jetta for my wife.


The one question that I have is about the USA Spec
PA15 HON2 iPod Interface.

Will I see any display on the non-navi dash such as song or track or anything?
Will I retain steering wheel controls to skip ahead tracks and control volume?

 

be aware the 04 has the same trans problem as gen2
Make them include a 100,000 no deductible warranty in the deal or no sale
You can get cars anywhere~

congrats on the 04 as tom posted, an extended warranty for the powertrain is good to have on the 04. the 04's trans. problems are much less than the 2nd gen trans, but a few folks still have them. My trans is nice and solid for 67K.

For your question, the USA SPEC does NOT Give text output. the only units that do are the DICE and the Peripheral Units. All 3 units give control from the HU. Also if you haven't gotten the TL yet, look for a navi one, its worth it!

 

Whats the original warranty given on this car from Acura when it was new, doesnt it continue to cover the car? I know when I bought my 01 I had the remaining warranty coverage, and in fact had warranty work done about a month after I bought the car; they replaced a busted motor mount, I didnt even know it was broken, I went in for an oil change originally and the guy came to the waiting room to tell me that it needed to be done and was still covered.

 

4 years 55K miles for 04-06 from the factory. (odometer class action lawsuit added 5%) if you get a CPO acura, the warranty is extended by 1 year and the powertrain gets a 6 year 100K mile warranty from the date the car was originally sold.

 

So I would still have the powertrain until 100k since the car was originally sold in 04 and only has 45k?


Also will the steering wheel controls continue to work with the USA SPEC?

 

powertrain is only on CPO cars (certified pre owned by acura). the controls will still work with the USA-SPEC.
