My bro has a 2006 TL and I have a 2007 TL. He is envious of some navi features I have that he doesn't (e.g. more zoom levels, cellular phonebook, etc).

Here's the question. If he buys a new Navi DVD, will that give his Navi unit these additional capabilities? Are they software/firmware that come on the DVD? Or is he out of luck because those things are controlled by the base unit.

My guess would be no, but I'm asking because I also have a Town & Country that when I updated the Nav DVD, it also updated the firmware on the unit and added/fixed a couple things.

Nute, the disc for the '04-'06 TL's is different from the '07-'08 TL's (orange disc vs. white disc). They are not cross compatable. But I think both discs were updated this year.

Update just brings updated maps and points of interest and does not add any new features, so unfortunetely your brother is out of luck
