Idea for double din dash

So ive been thinking about putting in a pioneer double div tv soon. One idea that i had was to get someone to fill in the two half moons on each side with some bondo or fiber glass and just putting that sheet of carbon fiber over it... anyone with experience can please let me know if thats a good idea?

Tl420, it will require some work, as you know, but I think it will be well worth it. If you do do that, just make sure you sand, smooth, prep, prime, and paint the area really well, or have it covered with CF. Good luck.

Working with really CF is a pain, especially with resin. Make sure you do it right.

There are a few ways to do it, simplest being just put a piece of abs behind the half circle and slap some filler over it. I did it the long way because I wanted the panel to be very strong and not crack because I knew I would be constantly pulling the panels out when tweaking stuff or changing head units. Some fiberglass , reinforced filler and rage extreme is all you need before starting to prime / prep for paint.

I am not sure what people are doing with the pontiac dash kit?

Here is what mine ended up looking like...

I agree with Neel on using the abs just make sure that the abs is scuffed up very well before you use the filler or it will crack! Post pics of the progress Ad Neel your setup looks awesome!! Many props

I found that it looks better if you cover the side pieces with carbon fiber finish. Check out my resent install which came out great. I'm really proud of the shop that did it in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

did you just search all the DOUBLE DIN threads and bump them up with a pic of your install? You already have a NAVI, another screen in there makes it seem like an over kill to me. But clean install I guess. Do you still have hands free and are can it be controlled from the steering wheel? Or did you lose that option when you did this?

I thought about it for a long time but the factory navigation is horrible and the factory bluetooth seemd to be out dated. The stereo shop is going to convert my old screen in to a digital TV tuner and i should be able to watch movies too.
